Carroll was hurt while playing for England’s Under-21s this week and his untimely absence comes just as he was beginning to make an impact in the Championship.

But Redknapp believes the 20-year-old will play a key role for the R’s as they look to get back to the top flight.

“Hopefully he’s not going to be out for too long, but he’ll be out for a few weeks,” Redknapp added.

“He picked up a nasty injury and it’s a shame because he has been playing well for us.”

QPR boss would like permanent Carroll deal

But he faces a battle to secure a first-team place at Tottenham and Redknapp says he would be interested in keeping him if the chance arises.

Redknapp said: “It depends what happens at Tottenham and whether they want to keep him.

“If they decide he’s not in their plans then he’s the kind of player you’d want to build a team around. But it would be Tottenham’s decision.”

Great news for Tom over Redknapp saying he would like to make the move permanent as hes too good a talent to sit on our bench and as much as it would be superb to see him make it with us, if he doesn't then he should be playing premier league football next year with QPR, a great backup option.

Did you see the challenge on Little Tommy ?? It was outrageous and I am not at all surprised he is expected to be out for a while.

Let's hope Redknapp does for Tom Carroll what he did for Andros Townsend :D
 
I think that Redknapp's comments here say all that we need to know about Carroll. That he'd like to build a team around him is a massive statement about his quality.
Give the lad a new contract and loan him back to QPR next summer and I think we'll get back a top class playmaker. Send Pritchard with him too, if he keeps on performing.

Redknapp may not be our manager any more, but he can still be a big asset to the club. He knows the players, knows what our coaches want and he knows how to get the best out of people.
As long as he keeps starting our loanees, then it can be a very good relationship for both sides.

That is why loaning a player to the right manager is KEY. Under another manager there would have been a high chance carroll would have been dropped from the team. Carroll needed the initial time to find his role and because Redknapp believes in the player he allows him the time to get to grips not just with being 1st choice, but also the team set-up.

SC mentioned that Baldini is now taking more of a role in youth players being loaned out as we had a case of before with Sherwood, who had a personal grudge with Redknapp and allowed that (from what I hear) to make the loaning of Adam Smith to QPR break down in talks.
 
Simon Dawkins has joined Shuper Shexy Shteve McClaren at Derby on loan for three months.
The former Wally With The Brolly had a moan about squad depth yesterday, so he's picking up a few players on the cheap.
Hope it works out well for everyone.

Any club, that plays, or tries to play in the right way, is a big asset to the development of
the Academy players. Former Spurs personnel (Arry, BMJ, Chris Hughton) more so because
they at least have an understanding of the way Spurs teams and players traditionally play.
 
It finished at 2-0, so Swindon go up to 5th. Another home game on Tuesday night against Walsall.
 
Pritchard's assist was from his sweet corner kick. Is there nothing he's not good at?

I was at the Reading v Doncaster game today and Khumalo was poor. When Adam Le Fondre is in the mood, he is a handful at this level and he gave Khumalo a tough afternoon. I didn't think Khumalo coped at well with either Le Fondre or Pogrebynak.
 
Seems like Harry Kane may be joining our group of loanees, as it's been publicly discussed by the manager. Another stint in the Championship, I guess.
Not sure how much good it'll do him, but a short-term deal followed by a January loan to a Premier League team might be beneficial.
I guess that means that Adebayor's back in contention.
 
A team fighting for promotion from the league below would be a good option til the new year,
but I don't think any such club would be interested.

QPR? Didn't Redknapp display an interest?
Derby, maybe? McClaren moaned about their lack of depth.
 
Even if Arry took him, unless QPR have an injury plague he is unlikely to get
too much game time. And Spurs only have 3-4 Europa group games at best in
which he could play up to the new year.

Yeah, just saw that Derby are 8th in that league, so that could be a possible.
