Carroll was hurt while playing for Englandâs Under-21s this week and his untimely absence comes just as he was beginning to make an impact in the Championship.
But Redknapp believes the 20-year-old will play a key role for the Râs as they look to get back to the top flight.
âHopefully heâs not going to be out for too long, but heâll be out for a few weeks,â Redknapp added.
âHe picked up a nasty injury and itâs a shame because he has been playing well for us.â
QPR boss would like permanent Carroll deal
But he faces a battle to secure a first-team place at Tottenham and Redknapp says he would be interested in keeping him if the chance arises.
Redknapp said: âIt depends what happens at Tottenham and whether they want to keep him.
âIf they decide heâs not in their plans then heâs the kind of player youâd want to build a team around. But it would be Tottenhamâs decision.â
Great news for Tom over Redknapp saying he would like to make the move permanent as hes too good a talent to sit on our bench and as much as it would be superb to see him make it with us, if he doesn't then he should be playing premier league football next year with QPR, a great backup option.
