Sickening to see such an amazing squad of players come second to a club ran by financial dopers. They deserve so much more success but I'm made up that we've still won two trophies and still have the chance for one more. Every other club in the country would be delighted with even just one and we may still end up with three.
It's phenominal what Klopp is doing when considering what he's up against in City. Man is an actual legend.
Also very proud of our fans who, when the whistle blew, just sang their hearts out in support of our players despite knowing we'd finished second. Love this everything about this club.

So, it's always interesting to see how you feel the day after these things. I'm frustrated about it this morning - not at us, we did our bit, but the fact that Villa could meekly surrender a 2-goal lead like that.
It would have been easier to take if City had taken an early lead and won 5-0, but at one point I really thought we just might do it.

I'd prepared myself mentally for every eventuality - or so I thought. Seeing Villa 2-0 up wasn't part of it. While tossing and turning trying to get to sleep last night, I was a Villa defender clearing the third goal off the line.
It's always harder to take when it's so close. Didn't quite feel right seeing Salah pick up his golden boot either somehow, when one more goal from him, bearing in mind his long drought, would have won it for us. Pleased for him but it could have meant so much more.

It’s a shame isn’t it. I think before the game people may have hoped but I think everyone was resigned to the fact was going to be very unlikely city would drop points.
At 2-0 Villa, wonder what would have happened if we had been 2-1 or 3-1 up then. Given we were drawing, city still obviously needed to try win but wasn’t quite as much pressure at that point. If we were winning, wonder if that would have fed through to the crowd and if they’d have started getting frustrated etc.
All ifs and buts, and I’m sure if you replayed that scenario another 10 times, city would prob win all 10 comfortably anyway.
in the end guys you have to think like this.

peopel should look to next season and see city ran out of cbs again and got distinctly dodgy there and fell over the line in the final 2 games. they till don't have a LB and kdb isn't getting any younger.

Problem is, city will go big and buy a left back this summer, as well as adding Haaland.
Given the fire power they have should roll over the bottom half clubs like we did and so it comes down to top 6 mini lesgue.
out chance of winning the league will depend on if we can out for city in that, and mainly if we can take 4 or 6 points from them. Would have made the difference this year and the year we lost to them. Ignore all other game as city can say the same about dropped points.
The 2 games we have against them are our only chance to force them to drop points. We need to make sure we at least win our home game, and then a draw away will be sufficient. Match them elsewhere (as we have done in 2 of the seasons we lost by a point) and we’ll win the league.

Yeah, I've said all along never give up, but I did expect them to win. Going 2-0 down made that glimmer of hope shine brighter.
However, I said yesterday that I don't think our ongoing situation would have had any influence on their game. On the pitch they're unlikely to know exactly what was going on at Anfield and even if they did they'd know that it could change at any moment. They would expect us to win just as much as we would expect them to.
They had to play their own game, same as we did.

i would agree that if you look at the difference in the titles in 2019/20 and 21/22 it was the super 6 min table. City had no cbs in 19/20 so failed there. its clear the titel came down to hem winning more points v the super six this time round and all.
so yes you are right, have to beat them at home. the rest of the league are cannon fodder at the moment.
I think personally you can look at the fixtures and know where you need to be. I had done this at the start of season and commented we needed to be ahead given how handy they had it at the end.
the last 10 in the run in are crucial imo. Thats when city iwll be going for all cups and CL and you have to crank on the pressure.

Again, I think too much is made of these micro battles - a case of over-analysis imo. Another season and we might beat the top ones and lose to someone else. Look at some of the teams City dropped points to this time.
It's all very simple - 38 games each, get the most points and you win it. It doesn't matter how.

how many times this season have city been 2 down in a game?
just asking as it is quite unusual. the only one i see is the inexplicable 0-2 v palace in October. this was only one at home.
I am looking here and the only others i can find are:
a) PSG in CL away in group 0-2 result there.
b) FA cup SF where we hammered thier b team at HT
c) CL second leg v Real madrid away. 3-1 AET (2-1 in injury time)
so palace is the only one comparible to villa. Both at home, both bottom half sides. but laporte was sent off in that game at 0-1. and palace scored really late v 10 men to make it 0-2.
One could contend that an 11 man city team, at home, losing 0-2 to a team withtheir minds on the beach (or should have been) with the title on the line is bizarre.
To focus on the negative and not take the means to rationalise and write this off and move on suggests that you need time to "process" (please say process in a whiny American accent then punch yerself in the gob)
