I don’t think it should affect the team. He’s still largely a junior member of the squad. So the fallout for shouldn’t be that disruptive. In recent years, we’ve seen this happen to players playing for the top teams.

But this incident certainly calls into question how the club is managing its players from discipline perspective.
No, it really doesn't.
Do you expect every employer to know what goes on in every employees sex life?

Leave the club out of this ffs, we have enough clowns jumping on this already.

We tend to have a history of any controversy or disruption affecting our performances. I'm thinking back more to the Fergie era but I reckon it still applies.
All teams have disruptive players and we are no exception (most recently giggs and Morrison).
The fact is the club are only responsible for the way players behave in public, what they do in their private life is their own responsibility.
No club (or employer) has a 24hr guard on their employees.

Leave the club out of it? How?

Look at the previous stories between Ronaldo and Greenwood. It is now clear that Greenwood is a hot head. I believe that it is the club’s responsibility to ensure that players are duly reminded of their responsibilities on and off the pitch. This was a big part of Sir Alex’s strategy. Especially for the young players that can barely tie their boots. When it goes wrong because of one hot head, it becomes a problem for the club.

Giggs was barely disruptive until later in his career. And Morrison was quickly cut loose once it became clear that he could not control himself.

So was Pogba tbf. Would he have been allowed back if Fergie was in charge? I think not.

Having said that, I can see Diego's point. There's only so much a club will either know or do nowadays. And that's any club. Usually either offer counselling or terminate the contract. And that's only when they find out about it.

That Pogba situation is a classic example of the club allowing players too much freedom which has ultimately impacted the team. If the club itself makes it absolutely clear that it has zero tolerance, I would imagine that the players will have that at the back of their minds when they are off the field.

But yes, there’s only so much that an employer can do. Great that the club acted swiftly on this one. Dealt with it the right way by getting in front of it even before he was arrested.

I am glad that we have reduced the fat in the midfield during this transfer window, apart from Greenwood’s situation derailing Lingard’s exit.

We have bought senselessly in the past three years without firm plans on how we would use the new players. Good to see some common sense finally. This is a good start to the post Woodward era.

I am really pissed off with the way Lingard is being treated, either play the lad or let him go somewhere he will play.
I love Lingard, he is always happy, gives 100% every time he plays and is also a very decent player. The man harasses the opposition to get the ball back and has a happy knack of getting into the box to score goals, also has a good distance shot on him which we are sorely lacking at the moment.

I think he must have shagged a directors wife or something to be treated the way he is.

Have to say I agree. There was a period when he went a bit wide boy with his social media and commercial antics, but for at least a year he's turned it round and deserves to be treated right.

That was when Pogba returned. They were all big time Charlies around that era.

He’s a lot more mature now and I would have Lingard playing in this current squad regularly.

We’ve really messed up so many good players in the past few years.

Police re-arrest Manchester United star Mason Greenwood on suspicion of sexual assault and threats to kill against student, 18, he is already accused of raping and assaulting.

So they have nothing on the alleged rape by the sounds of it.

A few years in jail will sort him out (if found guilty of anything)

I would think that the rape allegation is the harder one to nail down. The police will attempt to corroborate it with the gory assault allegation if Greenwood is found to be the main suspect.

I know that Treble mentioned to leave the club out of this, but the club is certainly right in the middle of this due to the seriousness and the very public nature of the allegations. The club’s ability to set high standards for its players and hold them accountable as they develop will be wildly called into question. I imagine that the hierarchy have placed all players on high alerts after this horrible event.

*FYI, I can. First cup final I remember watching.

My first United cup final that I watched was vs Brighton.

And seeing as I can't see Stapleton, Robson, Whiteside, Moran, that aint it.

Oh hold on, I see Steve Coppell at the back. With more hair. Before my time tbh.

Is 1976. I was very young!

Here goes, left to right;

Holton, Houston, Greenhoff (Brian), Coppell, McIlroy, Daly, Stepney, McCreedy.
Hill, Jackson?, Buchan, ,Nichol, Roche.

Didn't get the Jackson one and couldn't remember McCreedy's name but got the rest.

Get rid of Maguire.

I've tried to back him but it's become patently clear he's one of those players who'll only be a big fish in a small pond.

He just cannot deal with the pressure of playing for a big club.

We'll win fck all with him in the heart of our defence and he's costing us points in the league.
