Isn’t that a bit of a stretch? For one, Southgate knows how to handle pressure and players better than what most people can conceive. Two definitive skills that you need to manage the club.

Now, the suggestion is not to get rid of Amorim now. But come November, the results will be the only thing justifying his stay. It doesn’t matter that your forward thinking, it is all about results. If he can’t get results, it will evidently signal that he isn’t forward thinking enough.

Why November?

What's November got to do with anything, who sets this weird criteria?

As for the rest on Southgate, forgive me for laughing at that bollocks, but how is meeting up with players for a week once every couple of months for a couple of piss easy qualifying games the same as the day to day management of a club with United's expectations? And salaried players.

To answer, it's not.

Plus, every time he encountered an actual big game with pressure, he lost.

Which is why England have won **** all, with a far superior squad than the current United one.

If by handling pressure, you mean stay in a job for far longer than he should have, whilst receiving justified abuse from fans who are tired of his mismanagement and piss poor tactical nous and winning **** all, then yes, he is good at handling pressure.

Jesus wept..

Have you ever been to old Trafford? Do you live in this country? Do not think any England fan would want Southgate to manage their club.
What stupid questions?! You think living right on the M60 gives you some given right of passage for valid opinions?

“Have you ever been to Old Trafford?”

You’ve gotta do better than that before laying out your points.

For everyone jumping the gun… the point is we are not any better off without Southgate. Yes, I get the hate for the guy is strong, my post is not simply advocating for him to become the manager. But to convey that the notion we would be worse off under him than we already are is flat out unproven. Same with having Ruud in place. For all intents and purposes, we would have won more games under him with this same squad.

We are a working experiment. And there is no telling right now what will work.

So, it's unproven that we'd be worse off with Southgate in charge, (of course it is, no has attempted to prove this) yet you can say we aren't better off without him, and that Ruud would have done better than Amorim. Both of which are not only unproven, but unprovable.

All in some mad defence of Gareth Southgate, a bloke that isn't going to be United's manager.

It's all a bit weird.

No, you don't have to live that local, but I think the point is if you had more of an actual connection, rather than clearly observing from another continent and getting your information via social media posts, you'd know that there isn't a single United actual supporter out there that would want Southgate.

None. Zilch.

And that they support the manager in place, just like they supported ten Hag, and do not buy into the media narrative of driving the latest United manager out of his job.

Amorim won't be leaving this season, get over it. He won't.

The new owners don't want to throw the whole club under a bus and take it down to relegation, by supporting over paid players over a manager they employed to sort the **** out.

They just won't.

It won't matter what a prick like Richard Keys 'thinks', doesn't matter what some cretin on Talk Sport says, doesn't matter what you think Amorim should do, they are not going down that route.

They have employed him to change the whole approach of United, and that's what they'll allow him to do.

Please, just shut the **** up about Southgate.

Is Rashford delusional enough to imagine that he would get a game with Barca, he can't even get on our bench. Something is clearly wrong withy the guy's head, the best thing for him would be a loan at Aston Villa - about his limit at the moment and he might shine, adding a few quid to his summer transfer figure.. Either way, thank you but time to **** off.

My! You actually get so fkin enraged over Southgate! You get enraged over choices that are ultimately not yours.

You still can’t comprehend from my posts that I never advocated for Southgate. But pointed out that suggesting Southgate, or anyone else for that matter, is somehow destined to fail in the position is an outcome you can’t possibly know given how bad our current situation is across the club.

But hey, keep up with the rage! Lord knows we it!

Not sure we needed strengthening in defence, we had enough hangers on to get us through the rest of the season, so why on earth we didn't pay money for a striker is beyond me, or are we waiting for Coventry's cast off from Sporting in the summer window - cos Amorim knows him........where the fck have we heard all this **** before..

We’ve also heard before that a striker was the missing piece. I’m not convinced this time is any different. The current setup is wrong for the Premier League.

I am not sure a striker is our problem.
We are learning a completely new system on the fly at the wrong part of the season and with this the creative element is not working so the striker will always look bad.
I genuinly believe that with the remainder of this season and a full pre-season in the summer Rubin will have us playing much better and pushing for top 4 at least.
I have written this season off and my biggest hope is to finnish top half at least. We also need a fair turnover of players to give the manager a chance, players like Eriksen and Casimero (although once great) are not the right people for this team now
Amorim has iherited a squad used to playing in more or less the same way under the last couple of managers and failing the same way. I would be happy to give him until at least next christmas (some new players in summer TW and full pre-season) to see what he can actually achieve.

Edit.........i picked on Eriksen and Casimero because they are basically past it but there are a few more i could mention.

Ta daaaa!!!

At least someone else is getting it.

He's not there to revert back to the same old system and try to scrape top six with the same players the previous manager struggled with.

He's there to rip it up. It'll take a while.

This season, league wise, is a write off. As far as Europe is concerned, we either win the EL and get Champions league, or the FA Cup and get EL.

Otherwise, forget it, we can do a season without.

Not overly concerned by our lack of in's this window, but we did get rid of a couple of high earners which will help with the PSR bollocks.

I'm fairly sure there will be three or four targets mapped out for summer. One will be a centre forward.

He'll have to get a tune out of Hojlund for the remainder of the season. Playing Mainoo there was a mistake, if anyone in that starting eleven should be a 'false nine', it was Fernandes.

I think its safe to say that Gyökeres will be joining us in the summer. With every club in Europe (with big cash) looking for a striker this window and nobody snapping up tells me that Amorim has him in the bag, that's why we didn't go for a striker this time around. We'll have to make do and mend with what we have and what is available in the academy, after all, its not like we've lost goal scorers in rashford and Antoni...

My bet is that we would spend awful lot of money on him only for him to struggle at the club. I insist that a striker ain’t the problem and there is only so much they can do if the midfield behind them is not coherent.

In other news…
In addition to a history of poor recruitment, it appears United have failed to get the most out of the players at Old Trafford.

Scotland midfielder Scott McTominay never appeared to be a regular starter but has excelled since his £25.7m move to Italian side Napoli last August.

The 28-year-old has scored six goals in 21 Serie A appearances - and three in his last six as his side have charged to the top of the table.
Handful of players that should have never been displaced by the new players were brought in. And it looks like the likes of Mainoo might be gone for money only to bring in players that will likely not be as good of a fit.

I would be inclined to get academy players and very smart small fee transfers into the side and let them settle. That will not only resolve our proclivity to buying new players, giving them insane salary, only to watch them struggle, it would unleash new culture of meritocracy. At least let’s hope those days of crazy transfers are at least over with Dorgu a good start.

Fergie time for Amorim I think. With so many critical injuries and a depleted squad he surely has no option but to throw some of our academy talent into the first team, particularly as we literally have nothing to lose, things can't get any worse, so why not, and it might just tide us over until the end of the season when we can regroup.

WTF was the point of leaving it until the 89th minute to make our first substitution when we had a bench full of eager young players. We were already down by a goal, there was little sign from our play that we were going to pull one back, so why not put on one of the young lads, especially as we have to manage the risk of injury to our first team players. Fkn bizarre.

I did think he should have put him on with say 15 minutes left. It was daft.

He's the only one though, I wouldn't have given the others a game.

Maybe at one point thought Mazaroui move into midfield and put Heaven on. But that's pretty desperate.

He's definitely going to have to integrate and use some of these players next season.

Amorim's position is becoming quite precarious now - the squad is decimated by injury, the current form shows no sign of improvement, and there is worse to come because we won't have the cash come summer to spend on players to improve the squad - add to that the fact that we are likely to get fkd in the Europa cuppy thing. If the tea lady at OT is at risk then so is Amorim.
