We can't just stop and give in, who knows what can happen to the teams above us, the points aren't awarded in April - lots to play for still.

Who said give in?

Points are awarded in April btw. They're awarded every month in the season.

Will it be enough to get top 4, I can't see it myself. That doesn't mean we don't try and win every game. Nor does it change the fact the football is poor which was the point.

I was there tonight.

Sheffield United didn’t even attempt to attack until they happened to end up in our half as we aimlessly passed backwards, which ended up at Onana who gave it straight to their player to score.

That was it up to that point.

I don't give a **** stats wise, but I imagine it was around 85%+ possession while doing the sum total of **** all with the ball.

We equalised, they scored again straight after half time.

After that, again, they rarely touched it, and it was pretty much down to Fernandes alone to win us the game.

Stand out moments?

Wan Bissaka CAN NOT move the ball forward . He literally has to turn the wrong direction and pass backwards. Like it's an affliction. ****e.

Antony carried the can for some reason. He wasn't good, but he wasn't alone. The way he ran off when subbed was as if he'd never be back. Hopefully?

McTominay did lots of his little skippy about nonsense, while displaying exactly where he's at; which is (just about) league one level. Absolute garbage.

Mainoo is good, but had to carry Eriksen. Then McShit. At 18, he can't.

Maguire is a workhorse but Casemiro is not a centre half, and so needs and actual defender alongside him.

I think that's everyone covered?

We won 4-2 because Sheffield United are ****ing ****, basically.

Yeh I saw you post on the other thread you were going.

Agree completely about our performance. Lot of possession but not making many inroads and I posted similar about how we go forward then pass back.

We only have one player who actually runs at the opposition and takes on players. Otherwise it's turn and pass back and recycle the ball.

Btw I'd add our finishing is an extension of our football. If you lack cutting edge in your play you will lack cutting edge with your finishing. And we did that too.

In one spell of play in the first half i counted Mainoo pass the ball forward 9 times (out to both wings and several through the middle) every time the ball was passed straight back to him by the player he passed to <doh>

I just don't get why.

It seems the only time we play the ball forward is when we win the ball in the opposition half. Then it's a quick through ball to a forward playing off the shoulder of the back line.

But most of our play where we're building from the back just goes round and round in circles.

The problem with this is against the likes of Sheffield Utd you won't get any pressure. But you do that against a decent side and they just press you and bcos you're incapable of playing the forward pass you end up going back or worse still giving the ball away and letting them bear down on your goal.

You don’t get +1 goal distance after 33 games based on a good on-field system. I burned too much time bleating about that earlier in the season. We shouldn’t even be complaining this late into the season.

ETH will obviously not be here next season and hopefully along with many of the so-called starters. Hopefully we can build the team next year around the younger players in the squad that are hungry, get a decent coach that can institute a system of how we play and go from there. The back office is also going through transformation for a fresh start next season.

Let's be honest, the whole thing has become a complete **** show. The stadium is crap (was six years ago on my last visit, so god knows how much worse it has become since then), the squad is imbalanced, disjointed and our technical ability on the ball is piss poor compared to the top sides - if they can do it , so can we - but only if we had the right coach/manager, and we don't have that either.

Stadium, squad and an improvement in the style and manner of our play will take years to put right but at least the right people are being put in place to make sure that all happens.

I always think the 'stadium' thing is a bit of a false flag. From an arena perspective, and capacity, I still think it's fine.

If you're after corporate type match day event, then it's definitely not up to scratch.

Depends on the match going person, if you're after a good viewing platform and decent atmosphere etc., nothing wrong with it.

Where it all goes wrong is the concourse areas, which are the same as they ever were. The toilets are ****e and the outlets are ****e, unless you go outside.

You can't get a pint!

They sell warm plastic bottles of Carling, Doom Bar and some cider or other. And to get this, you either miss at least last 5 mins of the first half or the first five minutes of the second half, as they can't cope.

This is where the place needs dragging into the current climate.

I personally think they need to do something with the current stadium, not move. Knock down and rebuild in more or less the same footprint.

If that means a season at City's ground, so be it. It's not like it wasn't given to them by the council or anything!

The idea of playing our home games at Wembley would be ridiculous.

The real problem is that the basic concept of OT is outdated, just look at Spurs new stadium and the massive revenues they have created as a result. They host NFL games, rugby, huge concerts as well as other events such as cart racing, hot rods and the like, not just PL games every other Saturday, or whatever. These alternative uses are a must for any new stadium, not just in terms of recouping the reconstruction costs, but also as a means of creating an entertainment focal point for the local community. The only sensible option is to create a new stadium with the built in capacity to host other events which should make it easier to source funding from regional stakeholders., .

Yeah, and this seems to be Ratcliffe's aim, with the help of Seb Coe etc.

This is great, personally don't have an issue with it (not that my opinion means a **** of course) but would like it to be in the very close proximity to Old Trafford.

Which, I believe, is the idea.

To move away from where we are would be horrifying to me.

There's nowhere else 'in' Manchester this could happen anyway so, not going to happen. We are based where we are, to move would be very (very) sad..

Onana with a brainfart again yesterday <doh>

Despite making a couple of decent saves.

I honestly cannot stand the bloke, he's a complete dickhead.

If Ten Hag goes, any chance he can take this donkey with him?

Pay him if we have to, we could put it into his compensation package.

I know he's a liability, but I actually quite like him!

Yes, he costs us points, lots as it goes, but he's not really the proper source of our issues. With a proper defence he'd be half decent. Possibly.

He's not great though, true!

The whole squad, bar the three young players, being put on sale is the best thing that can happen to this team. We need to go right down to zero to rebuild properly.

If ETH stays, it is likely he’d be expected to use homegrown players to make up most of the squad.
