But why are we fixated on Henderson? He barely costs the club in anything. We are flushed with players that are actively in the squad that are still a drag on wages. De Gea’s contract ran out. That’s barely an active squad management. Maguire, for one! Martial (and I like the guy when he’s at his best but I can’t remember the last time I saw that best), Telles (he on £100k per week), Bailly (£100k per week too) - that’s just to name four with combined £700k in wages every fkin week! Yet, they are clearly not in ETH’s plan. Why the are they still around with the season starting in a month? That is a massive waste!

Evidently, Henderson ain’t the problem. We still have many freeloaders in that squad that need to go to give flexibility in spending and restructuring of the wage bill to accommodate new players that can actually add tremendous value to the team. That active squad management is what we are struggling with so badly.

But the exodus has saved in excess of £75million a year off the wage bill and it is finally allowing football director John Murtough and Erik ten Hag to bring the contract situation under control at Old Trafford.” - From Manchester Evening.

The club clearly recognizes the problem too and we have to believe that we are on the right track by turning a page from insidious salaries that were handed out to anything with a United jersey which then becomes a massive inhibitor in moving them on when they are no longer useful for the squad.

Martial and Maguire aren't leaving unless they are replaced, if at all.

Maguire was club captain last year and is an England international, he doesn't fall into the dead wood category.
Nor does Martial really, who was in the 1st team squad. If we sign a striker, I assume he will leave if anyone wants him.
If we don't, he'll have to stay, and play.

Forgot about Telles, yeah he could do with leaving. Very much doubt we are paying his whole salary though, so some of his cost is covered at least.

As for Henderson, he's a different problem. His salary is irrelevant, his misplaced arrogance is not. He has to go, because he thinks he's good (he's not) so won't play second fiddle to anyone.

He can **** off for free, basically because he's a ****. Might as well get some fee in for him though.

Mount, Amrabat, Onana and Hojlund minimum would be a decent transfer window.

It's becoming evident this won't happen without players being sold.

    Let's see what happens.

Fwiw I think two out of McTominay, Van De Beek, Fred need to be sold. Maguire as well would be a bonus.

You need to stop obsessing about the players salaries by the way.

Any new signing won't be coming in and playing for peanuts, they'll also be on huge salaries.

The Amrabat one won't, but Onana and Hjolund are apparently covered.

I don't believe Maguire is going anywhere.

It's going quiet on McTominay, weren't Newcastle allegedly after him? I'd sell him, and, if Amarabat is a genuine realistic signing, then Fred also.

If we need to sell both those first though, it's a hell of a risk if we don't then get him in.

Anyone meant to be interested in DVDB?

Yeh I meant all 4 without sales, those 2 should happen regardless.

I think Eriksen + 1 should be enough as backup.

Fulham had made a bid for Fred from what I've read and awaiting them to come in with a higher amount.

Looks like things have gone cold on McTominay. Shame that Everton are skint as we can rely on them to chuck £20-£25m our way and he would be a perfect fit for him.

De Beek no interest. The problem is he's hardly played for us so not sure why anyone would want him.

You’re actually obsessing over a player because you deem him arrogant when we have bigger fish to fry.

But yes, you’re right! Maguire is not a dead wood. He was our captain last season (off the pitch), England international, Mr. Southgate’s god’s son. He certainly is not a dead wood. But he is an absolute fkin liability!

On a serious note; I’m failing to see why you don’t see that our wage bill is what is causing us current problems. It is not simplistically “Obsession over salary”. It is obsession over the root cause of all our current problems. Surely you have to see that and acknowledge it.

If you can't see the issue with Henderson then I cba to explain further. He needs to leave, quietly. Funny he's not once been mentioned as a possible free of charge replacement for de Gea, eh?

Anyway, I don't see the salaries as problem now, no.

De Gea was highest earner and he's gone. As is Pogba.

Everyone else is on more or less similar to each other and they are 'standard' top earner PL salaries, ridiculously high as they are.

If United don't pay it, someone else will.

I don't agree with what Rashford is seemingly holding out for but it's not happened yet.

I don’t see any issues with Henderson because we are at least not completely short of takers willing to come in for him.

But asking for £50m for Maguire is a bit of a joke which is on us because no one else sees that value. At best, we are looking at probably £35m for him because he’s older now with no resale value and high salary.

Another one of those.. £140k a week. He was on £100k in his first year with us but has risen to £140k wage through incremental bonuses. We have so many of these players that barely play with above premier league player salaries that no one wants because there is no way to quantify their value.

Think the real warning sign for other clubs was that he couldn't make the Everton team.

Is that so? I haven't been following him or them that closely. He needs to go back to Holland tbh. Or maybe involved as part of a signing we bring in but I think that's unlikely.

We've put out a fairly young midfield for the game against Leeds. Dialo, Mainoo and Mejbri start. With Mount and Sancho.

Come on! Be kind! lol. The man was injured! You really think that fat Lampy wouldn’t have used Donny if he had a chance to get a fit player on the field?

His injury record is pretty shocking so thats another minus .

It will be interesting to see if ETH can integrate some of those younger players into the team. Good to see that Mejbri played today as well. I look forward to watching the highlights.
