Who in this day and age thinks that a Messi and Ronaldo dwarf is a neat party gimmick.

United sold the soul of the seven shirt whe it was handed out to the likes of the players I mentioned above.

Memphis also had it, and Cavani. And then Ronaldo demanded it back, as if it was his.

    Ergo, no longer that special.

I think Mount is a better fit. It takes away this idea that is has to he some flair player or other.

Does anyone know how good Onana is by the way?

I genuinely don't, so won't pretend I do. Assume he's better with the ball on the deck than de Gea, but no idea on his actual shot saving, penalty box control, set pieces etc., which is all where de Gea is supposedly lacking, bar the shot stopping.

If he signs, next up would be the striker. It does look like an increased enquiry on Hjolund.

Would that make everyone happy? Or would we need even more?

Personally think that is a good window.

I personally don’t think that any of those players listed will massively change the fortunes of team. Incrementally, sure! But with a full season under the belt, I firmly believe that ETH will make progress on the system and make it more efficient to create more opportunities and score more goals regardless of the summer signings. And no more 7-0, for goodness sakes!

Paper reports that we are considering loaning Greenwood to Atalanta. Seems like a good idea - we get Hojlund and they get a replacement striker probably with an option to buy to get him off our hands.

It doesn’t look like selling Greenwood is the first option, otherwise the club should have acted decisively. Why continue to delay it if they are not considering all options?

Rather than sell now when his stock is low (domestically), let him flourish abroad and enhance hi8s value. The least he can do to repay his behaviour is to increase his transfer potential.

Just read that Paulo Dybala could have a £10m release clause from Roma. Not a bad second striker for the money with 18 goals last season.

Ex-Juve players that have come here recently left a bad taste in my mouth.

Yeh but is he better than Martial and Weghorst? I.e. can he score when presented with a shot on goal?

I appreciate I'm setting the bar quite low here <laugh>

Assuming we get Hjolund, then I guess Rashford will have to be the senior striker when he needs a break or doesn't start.

Appreciate Rashford prefers playing off the left but, when he's needed at 9, it's not like we're not covered by the likes of Garnacho, Sancho, Antony etc.

Can't see us also getting a senior striker as well as Hjolund.

It looks like Kane has resigned to go to Germany. The takeover delay is a real shame because we could have really had a shot at getting someone like Osimhen.

Saudi clubs want Fred. Slap a £100m price tag and he's good to go.

Regardless of the takeover, our current financial position is such that we can't afford Osimhen or Kane at the moment, that's a sad fact of life. ETH had to spunk the budget in the last window to stabilise a sinking ship, and he achieved that. I suspect that this window is all about making deals on extended payment plans until the sale/no sale is announced. Once new revenues flow in we'll be able to compete in the high end market.

Not only are we struggling to get players, we are also struggling to get rid of dead legs that could open up funding for new players. The club is completely riddled with indecisions.

    Are we?

Jones and De Gea now gone, who else are we currently deeming 'dead legs' who can go before their replacements come in?

Can think of Bailly who we still employ, but he's out on loan and assume his wages are covered. Tuanzebe also left.

Would like Henderson out the door again sharpish as well.
