It was a great plan mate, Ajax would've never caved in if we'd slapped €100m on the table 2/3 months ago <laugh>

That was some plan by us to make 'em sweat for it.

They asked for 100m at the outset and they got it. We caved in eventually so we were ever so clever <laugh>

Trying to be clever cost us 20m. The smell of desperation couldn’t be hidden so why not pay the asking price ? As I said Utd world class negotiators <laugh>

Being outgunned in transfer efficiency by the likes of Nottingham Forest and Burnley ffs. I kid you not, take a look at both and how they've gone about getting business done this summer.

Btw De Jong benched again for Barca's game tonight. Don't get what he's thinking at all.

He wants his money - simple as that. Once that is sorted he will leave for game time - with us or someone else. If he doesn't play ball (forgive the pun) Barca will bench him

I can't see Barca caving in now. Hope I'm wrong but if it was going to happen it would've by now.

I've said for a while, if he was that important to us, we should've upped the price by £17m or split the cost with Barca. If we can pay €100m for Antony, €60m for Casemiro we could afford €17m.

The Utd directors do make a dog’s dinner of the recruitment but I must admit that so far TenHag got most of the players he wanted albeit some missing the crucial preseason training. And some at over the top prices. Eriksen, Martinez, Malacia, Casemiro and now Antony joining. Dubravka is on his way but we shouldn’t have let Henderson go in the 1st place. Missing only one (DeJong) of the key targets is not too bad I suppose after the crap record we’ve had with transfers.

Exciting times.

Still think we're light in CM. If we got De Jong I'd be so much more confident about the season ahead and establishing ourselves in the top 4. Still happy enough though with the signings.

Henderson thinks he should be No.1 and isn't a collaborative No.2, he needed to be removed from the squad this season.

If de Gea ends up not up to it, and he does really well at Forest, I'd assume he comes back. Don't think he's all that myself but we'll see.

Irrespective of whether they did the deals well, they did the deals. We've got an excellent first eleven now.

Assuming we go 4 3 3

De gea
Dalot
Martinez
Varane
Malachia
Casemiro
Fernandes
Erikson/Fred
Sancho
Martial/Rashford
Antony

Is a great starting lineup.

Ronaldo, AWB, Maguire, Elanga, Garnacho, Shaw, Lindelof, Rashford/Martial is a top bench as well.

Yes. The team is shaping up. What’s promising so far is that we’ve corrected the shambles of the first 2 matches (ironically trying to play the TenHag’s way from the back) and introduced a degree of pragmatism. The premiership is not the Dutch league. The defence is starting to play as a unit. The midfield is getting more solidity with Casemiro at its heart and Fernandes and Eriksen creating and the front line looking sharper with Sancho and Antony providing more guile and speed.

But plenty of areas to improve. We could do with a top no9: Martial is not that reliable and rashford has yet to reach top form. Not sure about Gakpo who was v.ordinary against Rangers. Rumours about Aubameyang and Depay. Either could beef up the attack.
