They have removed Hamer from the article. Just the CB which seems a bit odd as CM is surely the more important position but still trust the process. Looks like it will be Morsy and Luongo for the opener

Good spot. I guess the Hamer link was inaccurate. If we’re able to get Ahmedhodzic, either Skipp or Phillips, and Szmodics in over the next week - that would be a massive statement and possibly take our spending north of £80 million on fees alone!

Maybe we’re targeting another centre-back in to cover for three at the back? McKenna’s always said he wants to have two good players for each position. I’d much rather Skipp than Phillips, particularly if the latter is on loan and has his high wages subsidised by Man City. As for Szmodics, hopefully he can make the step up to the Premier League (as per most of our players) and build on his most recent season.

Our physios will be jumping up and down with joy with the news that we are signing Kalvin Phillips! They’ll be seeing a lot of him this season.

If - and it’s a big if - Phillips keeps fit, stays motivated, and plays near his peak years at Leeds, then this is a massive coup.

Lots of ifs though, but on paper it’ll be a great signing if McKenna gets the best out of him.

We are a very long way from Man City’s quality. There Phillips has been a small fish in a huge pond and if he loses his belief in himself you can see how easily that would be demotivating. Pep is not one to spend loads of energy on nurturing fringe players, he tends to let them sink or swim.

I hope he is better for you, and puts in more effort, than his time at West Ham. Consistently gave some of the worst performances I've seen in a hammers shirt.

Yeah, I did catch a couple of games where he played for you last season - he looked poor. I just hope that's more to do with psychological issues, which we can hopefully sort by giving him a fresh start, rather than an indication that he has massively declined as a footballer.

This was mid-season, he made mistakes and was absolutely castigated. Don't see that happening at Ipswich. It's a positive atmosphere with no big egos and everyone is going to make mistakes and be able to take some time to settle in.

KP deal edging closer, apparently we are paying a proportion of his weekly wage of £140,000(!!)-hope it's a low proportion!

I can remember not so long ago speculating about Town players being paid 10% of that a week!?Crazy!!
