That's not our problem, Mark Chamberlain isn't part of the club. Let hi thnk what he likes, Alex himself and the club are bigger than him.
Yeah but it can't be great for a young lad if their Dad is telling them to do something, and is feeling bitter about how the club has acted. Its bound to rub off.
Completely agree!! Call yourselves fans wanting a player off! He won't leave! We are building a team for the Premier League and I think NC and NA would agree when I say we should be holding the current squad together and not dismantling it like at Cardiff
The Chamberlain bit is on, but this highlighted bit is very untrue. Jack Cork is rumoured to be costing around £800k. Last season, Lambert cost £1m, Fonte cost £1.3m, while Lallana and Chamberlain were academy lads and Schneiderlin cost £1.3m in 08/09. That's 5 top-end Championship players, none of whom cost £3m-£5m. If you know where to look and know who has the talent to step up, they don't need to be that expensive.
It makes no sense, both financially and for football reasons to willingly sell Alex at this time. His current value is determined by his potential, not by what he has achieved so far. If we keep him, we are in a no lose situation, because we will benefit from having him playing for us and his value will rise as his experience level increases. Remember, he is only 17, at his age Adam Lallana was nowhere near the level that Alex is now. Now if Alex has his heart set on a move, then, as was the case with Theo, there is not much more the club can do except get the best possible transfer fee for him, but you only have to see the relative value of Gareth Bale to know that it is better to keep him for as long as possible.
To be fair though, we can hardly moan about those players mentioned by Matt above, they are key players for us and will be in the coming season, and, looking back - most of them were a bargain and would be sold for much more if that situation arised.
If Cortese doesn't accept a bid, he won't go. With him being under contract, I presume it's that simple? If Alex was unhappy, I guess he could force a move? He certainly didn't look it against Walsall.
This is one that's going to rumble on all summer unfortunately, into January and possibly beyond if he stays. Cortese's job is just to get as much out of Arsenal/United/whoever as possible. I'd set the price at £15 million and see what happens, like I've said a million times before: win-win. Happy days
The Sunday Mirror says AOC now a main target for Liverpool. Isn't this the sister paper to the one that said a few days ago that his move to Arsenal was completed!
The only site I trust is the OS for Saints............No Tv Media, no paper media. Just the official web site. It would be wise for others to follow suite.........
