Always admired Sir Les as a player and was great to watch and without doubt was a great striker for us. Wish we had someone like him next to Austin today. But one point I have to make is I have seen him on the panel on QPR games and he has never shown any allegiance to QPR. I understand he also made it quite clear he was a Tottenham supporter as a kid and that is his club.
Good. Time to get the emotion out of this. But not to the extent that Redknapp has taken it of course, he seems barely aware of his surroundings.
I'm on a mission Dens! leave your coat on the peg mate it's fixed. Just gave me a brain worm for a bit........
So relived to hear this news. He was at Wet Sham on Sunday and I immediately crossed my fingers. He will teach some of the squad a thing or two about having pride on the club. Welcome Home Sir Les.
Exactly what Im thinking mate. Whilst i like the bloke and he was a top player for us, do we really believe he is going to change Harry & Hoddles ideas. Personally think he's on a hiding to nothing. Shame realy as Id hate to see him tarred with the same brush Good luck Les, you'r gonna need it
I think he has slightly more job security than Redknapp and Hoddle mate. But have read the press release, seen the YouTube clip I still have no real idea what he is going to do. Nearly every other company is stripping management levels out (the good ones did it 5 years ago), QPR is putting more in........when it's skint.
Even mentioning us in the same breath as Southampton and the way that Club is run is Harry Potter stuff. Still, despite this circus becoming more and more ridiculous by the day, I guess we still have hope
That's probably the reason why they're trying to get us out of the lower loft. They want it as the home teams dug-out as the current one is too small for Harry and his cronies.
I too am not sure what the role will entail, but if as suggested, it is to interpret the footballing side for the board then maybe it will be a blessing. At least Sir Les won't let TF spend cash on players when they have sufficient talent already within the squad to be in the first team and we won't be tempted to buy players due to their name once being "big league". Good luck to Les, if he can install some passion and heart in to the players that playing for the badge is more important than the pay packet, he'll be a legend twice over (is there such a thing?)
Mate, I've just read this whole thread and yours is the first I've agreed with. I hope we are both wrong.
Its a bit like buying a midfielder when we need a striker....deja vu its not what we need right now unless he wants Les to do the firing of fitness coaches etc so TF will not upset HR
Without trying to put anyone down, I just find it intresting that TF thinks Les hsa more appropriate modern trainng methods for a team coming into the Prem and a a better idea of how the football side of a Prem club should be run, than Harry Redknapp, Glenn Hoddle and Joe Jordan combined...! He may well be correct but what proof do we have of this exacly? TF hasnt exactly got it right when making footballing appointments has he? I cant wait to see this, its going to be intresting to watch Les "effectively" be thier boss. Cant see Harry hanging around for that one. On the plus side for him, it gives him anothe person to blame for making decisions against his will. Better than Eastenders this one...Bring it on.....
He could make as much difference as Glenn Hoddle has........ or have we gone backwards since he's arrived? I'm not sure to be honest.
