I voted weeks ago and I voted remain.

---

It would be easy to vote against Nigel, Boris and Gove because they're such comedy weasels. But don't do that. Vote against them because they are debasing our society with a campaign of fear-mongering, jingoism and lies.

They bang on about immigrants putting the squeeze on public services but it's not people fleeing war who have ****ed up education, housing, the job market and the NHS – it's underinvestment, reckless bankers and radical austerity.

They bang on about taking back control – as if a lower chamber endorsed by 24% of the electorate, an unelected upper chamber and a hereditary head of state add up to a beacon of democracy. And they bang on about rejecting experts because they know that if it comes down to evidence and argument rather than insecurity and bombast, they don't have a leg to stand on.

This whole toxic business was conceived as a manifesto ruse, a cynical sop to misguided anxieties by a prime minister who calls his opponents terrorist sympathisers and enemies of the state then bleats that others aren't playing friendly.

At a time when so many genuine and terrifying crises go shamefully unaddressed, this referendum is a trumped-up and divisive farrago that has already done great, perhaps lasting damage to our society.

Please don't make it any worse by actually putting a torch to one of our few remaining sources, however flawed, of international stability, openness and human rights.

Vote today and vote Remain.

<applause>

Well said. I was going to go incognito on this as I know politics can shape a person's view of you before they know you (yep I'm a chicken), but this is bang on.

DTLW for PM and next Saints boss ;)

I want to leave because I think it has got too big, has too much power, and I want my country back. Not talking about race, but about values. I am proud of Britain and I welcome people who want to be British (whilst still adding variety to our mix). I don't welcome criminals and people who live in the dark ages...we should control which group of people we allow in. Europe is not run by idealistic people (as some seem to think) but are just a bigger version of FIFA...power corrupts. I know there are racists amongst my fellow travellers, but I object strongly to everyone being lumped in with that. There has been an attempt by the stay campaign to vilify the real concerns of ordinary people....happens at every election. I could as easily point out that the stay group contain some people who hate and despise Britain and love virtually everybody else on principle, including a large group of luvvies. Britain is a big country...no one is going to ignore our market. I think the vote will be to stay (just as it was in Scotland)....people will vote for the status quo...and then we will be stuck in a Europe which is on the verge of disintegration any way.

IOW Independence Party's first election address?

Tony Blair is the remain version of Farage and that is why he was off the screen as soon as he had decided to try and wade in.

This spreadsheet analysis is quite interesting, detailing down numbers and percentages for every constituency so you can find yours there. The totals predict 48% for remain

EDIT: I am wrong there it is a breakdown based on a result of 50/50 in England and the 48% is for the last region on the spreadsheet. lol

p.s. Southampton is 51.82% remain, Portsmouth is 47.69% remain, Lincoln where I live is 48.72%:

I want to leave, but I would be happier to be beaten by a large number than a small number. I would accept that because this is a democracy. I hope both sides pay attention if this is close which it looks like being.

What can't the BBC report?
* The BBC stops short of actually encouraging people to vote.
* While the polls are open, it is a criminal offence for anyone, not just broadcasters, to publish anything about the way in which people have voted in the referendum, where that is based on information given by voters after they have voted.
* The BBC can't report anything emerging from exit polls (which, by definition, are asking people how they actually voted), although the broadcasters have not commissioned any exit polls for the referendum.
* No opinion poll on any issue relating to the referendum can be published by broadcasters until after the polls have closed.

Someone should tell BBC News because this morning they have been talking about the Opinium poll that put Leave 1% ahead. 45L/44R/9undecideds

That will be a battle afterward. Cameron has already said he will trigger article 50 immediately which basically is a threat. Leave don't want to automatically trigger it, they want to assess the situation before actioning it.

By saying what he has about triggering it immediately he is suggesting that it won't go through parliament and I am not sure that he can do that anyway.

The result should be announced about 7.30 tomorrow morning and Cameron address the nation about 10am. That is the result of the referendum though and we will have to wait and see what the "elite" actually decide that result means for a while.

I don't think much will be actioned for a month (probably a year) if we vote to leave. Other countries will be involved in discussions because the silly threats that have been made by the EU and others would harm their own countries and they will all want to minimise a Brexit effect on them, especially Germany where many industry bosses have said they want Britain to remain a tariff free arrangement whether they agree to EU policies or not
