Guy Smith from Beverley won it, driving for Bentley, about 10 years ago.
Ever seen the documentary about the disaster? Seem to remember Mike Hawthorn got the blame.

No not seen it, to be honest the only thing I’ve seen is Le Mans 66, Ford v Ferrari. Cracking film

Did you enjoy it?

loved it at the time- there's loads to do - went by coach a few years but drove there one year - don't expect to get much sleep - the camping is noisy with fireworks and the coach is full of people snoring - just hope the weather holds out - find a good place to watch near a large screen which shows how the race is going because most people watch for a while, maybe a couple of hours then have a break, food drink etc and then watch same place or go to a different place - I stopped when finances got the better of some teams and the esso cars and toyotas pulled out leaving porche and slower cars - lost interest - haven't followed it for some years now but it's certainly worth it

Seen it, pretty brutal.
Definitely. One car drove up the back of another, took off airborne, flew over a low wall straight into the crowd in the main stand at the start/finish line. Did a few turn overs, ploughing into the specs who were standing on tables. Little chance of survival, and not much H&S in 1955.

My first time this year, anyone else on here ever attended ?

Do not miss the start. The only time in the next 24 hours you will have some idea of any particular cars position in the race. (Yes, I went, and for some reason that I will leave for my memoirs, I missed the start)
The time I went, no internet, no big screens, so who was leading was errrrr that one, no, ahhh that, no, must be, nope. No idea. A local radio station was on air purely for the event. Asking someone who had an ear glued to a radio was a tad pointless three hours in. An enjoyable time though.
