I don't use 365 so someone else would be better placed to answer that part, but you can save Excel documents to Google Drive yes, even though they're a different format to spreadsheets created in Google Sheets.
They’re not withholding the goods though. They’re saying you can taken them out all the time you pay, but after that they’ll put them outside then dispose of them in a big crusher, or sell them to a bunch of weirdos who bid on your stuff in a unit then turn it into a **** daytime TV show I think
This is a Microsoft statement: In other words if you're stopping 365 get your documents off before it expires.
there’s a difference between simply turning a document into a pdf, and publishing to pdf (ie keeping the functionality of bookmarks, cross references etc. that Google doesn’t support in the first place) Anyway, I think we both agree that Google docs functionality is fine for most home use.
Google Docs, Sheets and Slides function as well as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint albeit in slightly different ways and with some of the higher end features missing. The problems come when you try to convert back and forth between them. Google Drive will be brilliant once everyone realises that it'll only work if everyone organises their files in exactly the same way as I do.
A drive is where I park my car. Windows are glass things I open when it's hot and close when it's cold. The cloud is what rain falls out of. And office is where my boss sits. My outlook is gloomy.
Exporting Word document to PDF: I just use File > Save as Adobe PDF I prefer not to mess about with inferior versions I have a sub to Microsoft 365 - they dont call it Office 365 any more.
Mrs A just asked me about the £15 monthly subscription for Microsoft going out, so I had to find this thread to try to explain. I’ve regurgitated it so it’s easier to find I bottled it with leaving 365 and so continued with the subscription service. Does seem overpriced for something I’ve had for free before, but it was the safer and a seamless option. I use it for a bit of freelance work now, which includes writing reports and storage of other’s documents which I need to refer to, so didn’t want to chance it with my ‘enough to get by, but if you don’t know someone on Not 606 will’ knowledge. I didn’t renew McAfee though. I have a real dislike for these subscription service. I’ve walked into one for hp printer ink. I don’t use it much but cost me a tenner last month, though I was on the wrong service plan. I need to look at that, am retired so don’t have the time. I’m not after any advice, just an opportunity to grumble about modern life.
I know you said "not after any advice", but couldn't resist! Sounds to me like you've made a sensible choice sticking with MS365, but surely paying the annual option gives better value? £15 per MONTH sounds hell of a lot. I only pay £55 per year for a Family level subscription giving 1TB for each of us (way more than we actually need), but that is on a 'Home User Plan' that we got through work before I packed in, but it continues still. Should only be something between £60 and £80 per year ..... or do you need to have a Business version? Even then, I'm surprised it costs anything like £15 per month, and doesn't the 'Home User' plans give you all you actually need anyway (as they include all the main apps etc). Re. printing. I have an old Canon ink jet printer which keeps going. I have a few cartridges left, which I've picked up when the likes of Tesco or Wilko's have offers on for their own brand inks (work absolutely fine). However, when it finally goes, or when I've used up the cartridges, I'll likely get one of these newish Ink Tank printers - a higher up front cost but then the ongoing ink cost is literally next to nothing (pennies). Computer Active have this one as their 'best buy' currently ... https://www.argos.co.uk/product/9509485
I've just paid nearly £900 for a set of colour toner cartridges for my £1,500 HP printer I love expensive things
I went through the cancel subscription process to see what happened and I got 2 years for 1 annual fee. So I did the same with Norton and same result. May work.
