Well we shall soon find out the extent of Villa's interest then. Just don't see them been ambitious enough for him. Sold most of their best players over the last couple of seasons. Plus Lamberts friend Mr O'Neil left there for a reason that I'm sure Lamberts aware of
It would follow a familiar pattern for Lambert! Beat a club on its knees and then low and behold a few days later he becomes that team's manager!
i would suspect he'll be high up on their 'wanted' list but they are a car crash of a club at the moment and i think they may struggle to find a new manager who is currently managing in the premier league. mccleish was told to slash the wages by 50% this summer - thats not showing ambition! mick mccarthy sounds about right. rafa benitez as an outside bet...
Villa are not financially stable at the moment, when all their squad is fit, they could field a good side, but the finances dictate they may well lose players this summer, they are not an attractive proposition, unless Lerner has decided to lump £100m into the kitty.
As an outside bet I could see Bilic (sp?) going to Villa. He played in the prem and has stated a desire to come back in the past. Recently said he would be leaving his post with Croatia after the euros
Steve Bruce for Villa, King Kenny to move upstairs at Liverpool with Lambert coming in as manager. you heard it here first!
I have a feeling Liverpool would go for a "big name" manager if Kenny was to leave. Personally I think they will give him another season if he wants it
have you ever heard him give a straight answer to any question asked? i'm more interested in what he said that hasn't been widely reported by the media, about his plans for next season with norwich and giving the current lads a hand and 'going again'. funny how all the media outlets missed all that out but then of course, that doesn't make interesting reading, does it...
i heard strong rumours that bilic is going to russia to manage one of their super-rich clubs. could be wrong... as for liverpool, i think that is the only real possibility of lambert leaving this current summer. however, i don't believe it will happen. having said that i'm surprised that they are supposedly interested in martinez, based purely on about 12 games! i'd have said they'd be more interested in a bielsa or a klopp to be honest. just shows how their stock has fallen i suppose.
King Kenny won't leave liverpool, but what he will do is mold somebody to replace him. Who better than a former scotland and celtic player who has proven he can cut it in the premiership + they can understand each other!
Some people making out Lambert won't go to Villa because they are a car crash. They had a bad season but it's over now, they are an estabilished Premier League club and I think their new manager whoever it be will probably get money to spend because Lerner knows that's what it takes. If they offer Lambert money to spend then it is a lot different they have foundations with good young players and potentially a budget. I think if it comes to it Lambert will definitely think long and hard, we were not exactly in a good state when he took over. I don't doesn'tthink you can dismiss him going to Villa. I hope to god he doesn't but its a possibility. He's still Norwich manager today though, that's the main thing. ILWT
i think you're completely underestimating the mess villa have got themselves into. lerner has gone on record saying there is no money to spend and the wage bill must be slashed this summer. they are not an attractive proposition to any up and coming manager.
Interesting how the press like to omit parts of interviews so it fits the story they want. Usually they just take a single word quote (if that even constitutes one) and build a story around it. Very lazy journalism or maybe clever in terms of making a story depending on how you view it.
The thing is they would have to give him so much money to make a competitive team. Say Norwich offered him 20 million for transfers, Villa's team are in a much worse state so to get them to the same level he may require say 20-30 million and then more to push them on. Meaning they may have to offer 50 million + for transfers and judging by their past that seems unlikely. Plus it has taken him 3 years to create the atmosphere and want to win attitude at Norwich so will he be given that time at Villa.
seriously though supers, when a manager leaves he normally likes to take a core couple of players with him to get his message across on the training field. If the unthinkable does happen to you guys, which players do you reckon he would call upon?
