Surprise fact, Pardew is the 2nd longest serving manager in the premiership only beaten by Wenger

Possibly 'fact of the moment'. Fergy retiring makes that a fact.

I have been told from a reasonable source that the only reason Mardyarse is still manager is that he still owes fatshly for paying off his gambling debts at lambias' casino. Would make sense why fatshly can't sack the, erm, sackless twat.

Hatem Ben Arfa has hopes of achieving a top-five finish with Newcastle United this season, despite their opening 4-0 defeat to Manchester City.

Alan Pardew's side narrowly avoided relegation last term after a disappointing campaign, although 2011/12 saw them claim an impressive fifth-place finish.

French duo Loic Remy and Olivier Kemen are the only new arrivals at St James' Park so far this summer, but Ben Arfa believes that the Magpies can push for a European spot.

"Our objective is to finish in the top 10 and I hope we can finish top five," he told The Sun.

"That is going to be tough but I'm confident. The Manchester City game has gone and now we have to turn out attention to West Ham on Saturday.

"I will be doing everything for the team to maybe repeat what we did two years ago.

"We will be stronger than last year. There's confidence in the squad. We think we can do something good this season."

Rep mate<ok>

this is the sort of story we should have on our board.
thanks cos I hadn't seen it.

Exactly what we should be hearing from the players, some positivity with a top 10 objective makes sense and exactly what you want to here.
He's being realistic and knows its going to be tough to make the top 5 and doesn't expect too.

He hasn't set himself up for a fall by saying we will finish in the top 5, but nothing wrong with having a bit hope is there.

Either way, good to see Benni up for this weekends game.

Child.

Oh while you are here why not one star every thread.
Or better still whine on about how good your mods are at keeping your board tidy and uncluttered.

****ing dickhead.
