Koren is a play maker and can see a pass others don't, he can't tackle or head and as a front man when a cross comes in its 50/50 and you need someone to go in and be prepared to get hurt, that's why it doesn't suit koren been up front. However with players ahead of him making runs he reads the game better than most and as a good shot from outside the box. Overall i would either play Koren in midfield or not at all.

Koren is a midfield player. Playing him upfront and then complaining about his performances is a tad unfair. It's the same as playing Hobbs in midfield and after a few games, dropping him and saying he is **** !

Koren hasn't managed to get close to his form of last season, but he doesn't look comfortable as a second striker, he looks better in midfield, so it's not entirely his fault.

It's also not true to say he's been poor for 10-15 games, he was excellent on Tuesday night.

I honestly thought he was the only one who wasn't excellent on Tuesday. We played really well as a team but didn't create enough for our dominance, thankfully the finishing was much better than usual. I thought Koren hardly touched it all game.

I think Meyler and Quinn are better in midfield than Koren would be at the moment if we put him there, but obviously that's academic because he hasn't played there in ages. The best thing about Koren is his ability to make runs and meet a cross. He must have scored more goals from crosses than anyone else for us this season. Problem is when he gets a simple chance with a bit of time to think he buggers it up enormously. We've got Gedo to meet the crosses now, Boyd is a superior player in my opinion as are Meyler and Quinn in their positions. If Koren isn't playing well enough for one of those positions then he shouldn't be playing. That's how it works for most players, shouldn't be any different just because someone is club captain or scored some long-rangers last season.

My team would be exactly what Gooch suggested:

Stockdale
Chester Hobbs Bruce
Elmo Meyler Cairney Quinn Brady
Gedo Boyd

I'm a Koren fan but if Boyd is as good as everybody says then I don't think he should be in the starting lineup on Saturday. Play Gedo and Boyd. Bring Koren on for the last half an hour if we need him. It shows how far we have progressed this season. Last season's star player is a squad player now ! It's all good, even if we don't go up this season we are going to be very strong next season !

If he plays next game, then it is an absolute insult to the rest of the team, and especially if he's captain again. An absolute disgrace today and for the past 10/15 games!

P.S - Hobbs should be captain!

I would not worry all week about that. Boyd will START on saturday against Birmingham as the only change and Hobbs capt.

IMO, 5 of the starting line up were running on empty very quickly and maybe should not have started the game but after the Blackburn performance SB had no choice but to start them again.

A full week without a game and I expect Birmingham to suffer big time on saturday for the Bolton game. Koren now shows that he is only has one game a week in him.
