Liverpool coach Gary O'Neill on Sky Sports...

“It’ll be disappointing for them and for the boy himself. He’s 19-years-old and he wants to be playing football”

“I’m surprised that the club are letting it effect team selection.

“These contract negotiations, they can get complicated and it can take a while, it can be drawn out and you don’t always agree on stuff, but normally you manage to stay in the team and you get this stuff sorted off the pitch.

“I’m very surprised it’s affected Grant McCann’s team selection.”

Out of interest, why is he being asked for his opinion on it as a Liverpool coach?

Making the news like it is, is not good for anyone, needs sorting quickly but unfortunately I can see it dragging on. It's the last thing we need when in a promotion fight especially the way the results have gone of late. It will obviously be brought up in the squad but hopefully the players will just get on with it but it's not good. I would imagine privately Ehab won't be happy with McCann. Has a manager no matter what many think about him he could do without it, he shouldn't have brought it up in an interview and will probably regret it but even if he hadn't it would have been going on behind the scenes were it should be done but still causing bad feelings. I along with others on here would have been saying why isn't klp playing the manager is an idiot ect without knowing the true facts. These contract talks do go on obviously and there is normally always differences but stopping someone playing is the big issue here.

grant mccann gets to make team selections at clubs all over the world????
