The Rooney Rule is a National Football League policy that requires league teams to interview ethnic-minority candidates for head coaching and senior football operation jobs. It is an example of affirmative action, even though there is no hiring quota or hiring preference given to minorities, only an interviewing quota. It was established in 2003, and variations of the rule are now in place in other industries.
So what if only one person of colour applies and is massively under qualified? Doesn’t meet any of the criteria. They have to be interviewed? Pure exercise in frivolity.

if there’s a person of colour who is suitable, so be it. But if not, to be forced to interview one is ridiculous

Thats the criteria for the NFL, the rule in football is a variation of it. I'm assuming you just have to show that you have opened the position up to everyone.

If true, it’s utterly ridiculous! Surely enforcing this is almost back handed racism?

If Sol Campbell is the only person of colour to apply, we have to interview him despite the fact that, if he was appointed as manager, he’d be almost as hated as someone like Shearer from minute 1?

We wouldn't have to give him the job only an interview. If not up to scratch start again

its a minor detail and he can do what he wants as he's great, but it really annoys me that KLD uses talksport as his media vehicle of choice :D

Well, to be fair, from Keith Downie's tweet after being gazumped by Wee Phillie, it's pretty clear that they have no interest in football below the EPL....

Oh I get that. But it’s not the point I’m making. Anyhow it’s pointless. It’s the Sol Campbell “not enough black managers” argument. It’s because most of the black managers are rubbish. Not because they’re black. They’re just rubbish. L

TalkSPORT had a feature about “EFL transfers” earlier. Didn’t hear them mention anyone outside the championship! And that feature was specially created.

Tgat said, how many of us looked down to league 1 in the 10 yeas we were in the premier league? I didn’t. If we ever get back, I’ll be paying far more respect to the teams down here than I ever used to

Agreed mate. Down at this level you're just an after thought as far as the media are concerned and it brreds disrespect towards clubs down here. As someone who used to go and watch Hartlepool at Victoria Park when we didn't have a game, I've always given sone respect to teams down here, but I'll give a bit more when we do get back.

To an extent I agree your comments Sol Campbell is probably more responsible for the failure to appoint black managers than anyone else as a result of the way he approaches matters.
I do find it surprising that we do not have more black coaches which would lead to more black managers. Why that is the case I have no idea.
I've always been a believer in the best person for the job regardless of any other factors. Hopefully things will change

Anyway enough of this what about KLD
