As above, what Danube said, I've been quite a few times and Maggies is absolutely fantastic.
On top of what he said, referencing the hospital cafe, everything at Maggies is free :emoticon-0148-yes:

The first time that I visited, a lass asked what I'd like and I said 'a bacon sandwich, please' as a joke . . . . and she said 'no problem' and would have made me one. I declined 'cos I didn't mean it, but they had bacon in the fridge. They're so nice & accommodating, with tea, coffee, biscuits, cakes etc. all free, and for those who might think about it . . . . it's not just for the patients, either, 'cos 'husbands/wives/partners suffer, too, and they understand what we're going through.

Typing that last bit wasn't easy (bringing back memories) :emoticon-0106-cryin

While I'm on, 'cos I've tried to stay 'off', has anybody mentioned 'Daft as a Brush' for transport :emoticon-0112-wonde

I mentioned Daft as a Brush a while back, the drivers and assistants all give their time and effort free and are the salt of the earth. Its a magnificent organisation and well worth supporting

Hi Snaggey....just wanted to send love and thoughts to you and the Mrs on this journey. 12 years ago my brother in law had a 2" tumor in his stomach and his survival chances were rated 11%. Today he's still going and will probably outlive us all. Stay positive....which I know is easy to say than do.....but will be on the pray mat tonight for you.....god bless.....LA

Ahhh, you’re really going through it. Just caught up on your news. Hoping for a great outcome for your wife, she’s in one of the top hospitals in the country. We’re all supporting you, and are here for you. Best wishes to you both.
Absolutely.
We are blessed to have the Freeman on our doorstep.

Just got in from the Freeman, she feels a lot better in herself.
She went on dialysis there, first one since Friday. She's having investigations done tomorrow to decide best course of action, with a stent or removel of a section of bowel being a possibility.

One thing that was confirmed today was the postponement of the transplant on 22nd January. The transplant co-ordinator came to see us and explained that they cannot give her the rutiximab if the has any kind of infection, reducing her auto immune system would be a big no no.
She did stress that it was a postponement, not a cancellation, with the view to postponing for 4 weeks.
We were both fully understanding of this, and neither of us too disappointed...we just knew it wouldnt happen with how she is at the minute.

Thanks everyone for all the kind messages, I really do appreciate it more than you could ever know. I feel incredibly lucky to have so much support from a group of people ive never met.
You are all diamonds.
Bit of an update on this....the Mrs is home, she's not great, but she's home.
They haven't carried the operation, but they do seem to have things under control for now. The plan is to return in January to have a section of bowel removed, and rejoined back together.
If this is successful in taking away the issues she is having (the Freeman is confident it will) all being well we will be able to proceed with the kidney transplant. I think it will be longer away than the 4 weeks they initially said, as that didn't take into consideration any other surgery happening.
I'm taking each step as a positive, the transplant may be a bit further down the line, but she should be in better health to go through it.

Her being home has made my Christmas.

Merry Christmas you lovely lot <hug>.

Brilliant news she is home.

Stay positive mate, your constantly in our thoughts and prayers

Pleased you can spend Christmas together at home. Fingers crossed the rest takes care of itself and you get the transplant done as soon as it's safe to do so. The waiting must be awful but you need to wait until there's the best chance of success. Best wishes to you both.
