Today's Mirror has us linked with a £4m move for him, along with Reading. I suspect he'd rather go back to Reading anyway (assuming both clubs are promoted, and that there is any truth in the story), but do you think he'd be a good signing for us? If not, who would you rather us go for? Rodriguez? Hooper? Someone else? Do we even need another striker?

Also, don't the Mirror have a lot of saints gossip! Anyone keeping track of how accurate they are?

I think lallana could do a job up front for us in the premier league. In the championship the tendancy is for strikers to need to he powerful and strong, Lambert, Holt, Graham etc. The premier league there is more emphasis on speed and skill. Lallana up front could be interesting should be get there.

Doyle was useful for Reading, in fact, he was very good. I don't feel he suits Wolves style of play right now and is often deployed on the wing in a 5 man midfield.

For £4m he is definitely worth a punt. He offers good work rate and movement and would suit us.

As Cortese never even tells himself what he's doing, how does the Mirror find out? Probably media speculation or agent talk. The important thing is to get promoted, starting with an all important win today. However, watching the PL matches yesterday was definately food for thought. We do need strengthening without losing team unity.

Bearing in mind past forrm, Cortese will buy some good players, but will not get as many as we'd like and will include at least one from left-field. He will pay decent money (bearing in mind that if we get promoted, we are ahead of schedule) but won't overpay even for a player Saints want. We would, but we are not holding the purse strings (if we were, Saints would be bankrupt<laugh>).

All these players banded around (apart from Doyle) would command far too much money - Mertesaker, Man City players...

Also, I would be amazed if Doyle was the player we were looking for so cat see that one happening.

I think we will go back in and be successful with Gary Hooper (cant wait to discuss this with that dick from the Celtic board). If not, or in addition, I think we will try again for Jay Rod as they seem resigned to loosing him and he is a rather good player who will get better.

I also think Barnard and Connelly will depart (as has been sugested someplace else on this board) with a few others like Dickson, Holmes & Forte.

Not for me, would rather he played on the left or behind the strikers.

Yes K Doyle would come in and be the second best striker, practically equal with lambert. So i would have him

Seems bizarre to write some transfer rumours when we don't know what division we will be in.
