Do rate Doyle. I love his work rate. I'm not sure though that playing him with Lambert would really work that well as Doyle is primarily a target man. Can see us opting for someone like Hooper or Rodriguez who is younger and can play in both forward roles.
Lots of names being mentioned whose wage demands would be way out of our league. Can't see us offering anyone more than £35k or £40k at a push next year, and even a squad player at man city (Johnson for example) is on £50-60k easily.
Interesting names being tossed around but do Hooper and Doyle really improve on our three principal strikers - Lambert, Sharp and Lee?
I like Doyle a lot - great workrate. Can score goals (Reading), but equally does a good job holding the ball up, chasing lost balls down, nicking chances here and there. Will take some of the pressure off Lambert having to put in the workrate he does. Don't think we'll get Doyle anyway. Agree, think we'll go for Cooper (Cortese/Adkins don't like losing out - don't think they'll give up) and Rodriguez, as others have suggested.
Its a shame Lee didnt really get enough time to show us what he can do. In those couple of games the Lee-Lambert partnership looked really strong
Hes not that bad, hes scored 12 goals from LM this season. I think Sharp/Lee would be better suited to that role anyway
