I’m not saying we do. But collectively if all “smaller” clubs refused to use the loan system then the so called “bigger” clubs wouldn’t be able to abuse the system. It’s not going to happen but it doesn’t need the PL to get involved if only all the “small” clubs acted together. That’s why the “small” clubs are shooting themselves in the foot.

Is that not backwards though? Surely the clubs shouldn’t be put into such an elitist situation. If the rules were stricter it doesn’t happen. The chances of all the smaller clubs signing up to such a pact is unrealistic. It’s a case of if you can’t beat em...

No. It was the smaller clubs who allowed the bigger clubs to do it in the first place. As soon as the smaller clubs started taking the bigger clubs players on loan they began digging their own graves. Lack of foresight and forward planning.

Actually agree with you that the PL should take action. Not for the benefit of any of the clubs but for the benefit of the young players who are not being allowed or encouraged to develop at the right level, a la Armstrong for us and too many to mention at Chelsea and Man City in particular.

The Clubs outside the PL also need protecting for the benefit of the Game from the money of the top, financially, 2 or 3 clubs.

We’ve always had a loan system. Smaller clubs have always borrowed. What has changed is the uncontrolled influx of money into the game. One aspect is TV money of course but now we have clubs paying themselves and billionaires pricing smaller clubs out of the market. It is a-typical business monopolisation. Buy up all the talent and force your competitors to feed from scraps you allow them to.

That is pure and simple a regulation issue. As with most of these things authorities catch on too late. Why? Because the system is corrupt and they are getting rich off it. Human greed takes over. So by the time they act it’s too late as you see with Google or Microsoft or any number of giants who once they have success they use it to aggressively alter the freedom of the market. This is what Chelsea and the others do/have done.

Thankfully football is in a bubble and this can be changed for the long term good of the game with regulation changes. Hoping for smaller clubs to abide by some utopia of defiance is simply not going to happen. One link breaks the chain and you’re back to a free for all. Greed will always ensure at least one club does.

Regulation is the only viable solution.

If we do have an option to buy then it is a class piece of business so that is good news. And it also means we can use the money elsewhere.

I'm not against loaning players, what I am against is teams snapping up all the talent, to then loan them out and make a **** load of profit but it is what it is.
