Charles, if he'd "flapped at it", it would have gone in. His reaction is lightening quick, he applied strength to his arm to block and enough accuracy on the parry to tip it over. On top of that, his momentum is going the other way so he effectively as to flick his body in the air to get any kind of movement towards the ball and has to go full stretch to reach it at all. Apart from that, it's very average.
It's the way he hangs in the air- he's already about to make the save when it gets the deflection, and to stay in the air is incredible. Reminds me of Christiano Ronaldo's header for Real Madrid against Man U the other day- stupid as it sounds to compare a save to a goal.
Made two World Class saves to prevent Meyler and Hobbs from scoring. Looked quite decent IMO. Maybe he's just one of them keepers.
Try not having a regular choice keeper 3 Seasons running... We've got Stockdale on loan and if he gets injured we can always rely on either Cracknell or Oxley
We got promoted from League One with three loan keepers (including Stockdale and your own Warner) after our first choice was injured. Then the first two loanees went down to long term injuries. We still only lost four games and picked up 96 points despite this.
We could have bought Mannone at the beginning of the Season, but Wenger was apparently asking for too much so we were put off as we wanted to strengthen elsewhere (I.e. Brady, Meyler, Fathi, Gedo etc) but with him falling out of the first team at Arsenal again, I'd definitely have him back. I wouldn't mind either Myhill, Stockdale or Mannone, but the latter two would probably be the best decision for if we're in the Premier League. BIG if at the moment!
He had 6 keepers that year with 4 loans Paul Henderson, David Martin, Carl Pentney, Mark Bunn, David Stockdale and Tony Warner
... wasn't overly fond of Ian Walker .... IMHO nowhere near as good as Tim Flowers or Casey Keller .... and a cosmos away from the Holy Trinity of Banks, Shilton and Wallington.
He was actually quality and kept us in a lot of games. But every shot from outside of the area would automatically go in. Sheffield Wednesday at home when we lost 4-1 (?) is testament to that.
Im pretty sure Conrad Logan played in that game And I think your getting confused with Chris Weale. Every shot from more then 25 yards went in with Weale
Yep, you're right, that was Conrad Logan http://www.11v11.com/matches/leicester-city-v-sheffield-wednesday-02-december-2006-275869/ Conrad Logan Pat McCarthy Richard Stearman Danny Tiatto Patrick Kisnorbo Alan Maybury Levi Porter Stephen Hughes Josh Low Elvis Hammond Iain Hume What a team... Looking back, I'm surprised we got one
