Do you think as a group of like-minded persons if we all met up in pub we would only chat about Bristol city???
I go to the pub a couple times a week we don't spend an hour chatting about our hobby but embrace all manner of topics ......bit like on here but face to face .
Our forum works very well and I certainly gain from it long may it continue.

AN AVERAGE OF 169 daily for this 14 days this compares to 123 daily for his first 365 days! goss almighty projecct that = 61, 685 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OH annual bill last year I saw 1 report that hotels pocket money and free phones/ tv/ meals/ clothes cost upward of £12,000,000,000 add to this wages/maintence fuel / and office rentals etc etc etc and approaching over £15,000,000,000 [ my guesstimate! on latter ]

The BBC's business editor, Simon Jack, has just interviewed Environment Secretary Steve Reed, after he announced the government will abolish Ofwat, the water regulator.
He's asked why the possibility of nationalisation was not included in the scope of today's report, as campaigners had hoped it would be.
Reed says there's "no point examining something that wouldn't work", adding that the cost would have been £1bn - "money we don't have".
He says the money required would have needed to have been taken from the NHS and education budgets, and there would have been "legal wrangling".

If the Government took a step back and applied one iota of common sense and showed a bit of bravery on legal and illegal immigration and the astronomical cost of welfare then put in a tax cut to promote growth they may see a better economic outlook and forecast

But no, instead they’d rather persecute the workers while the black economy thrives and public coffers don’t see a penny in return

The government publishes daily figures, external on the number of people crossing the Channel in small boats. As of 20 July, 23,534 people had arrived in the UK so far this year, up by about 50% on the same period last year.
In addition, nearly 14,000 “preventions” have been recorded by French authorities in 2025. This a broad category that includes people prevented from crossing, people arrested for facilitating the crossings, and occasions when small boat equipment has been found.

The Home Office has launched an urgent probe into taxpayer-funded payment cards being used to gamble by Migrants living in asylum hotels
Migrants are given £9.95 a week to spend on their card if living in a fully catered hotel.
The amount increases to £49.18 per week if the person is living in self-catering accommodation.
The probe comes just hours after figures revealed that some 6,537 asylum seekers have used Aspen cards in "gambling settings" over the last year across the UK.
In the highest single week on record, in November 2024, 227 migrants tried to use, or used, the cards to gamble.
Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Mayor Paul Bristow revealed it was "not unusual" to see small boat migrants at betting shops.
He told PoliticsHome: "Peterborough has seen a huge increase in the number of gambling establishments and gaming centres, and a huge increase in men who've arrived across the Channel on small boats." It's not unusual to see the very same men in some of the establishments on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday night.

sorry Angelic although I had doubts about the 2010 to 2014 period as to doing it "right or wrong way" that powerful tool .........HINDSIGHT has proven otherwise ... and DRAMATICALLY SO!!!!!!!!!!!! but you apportinating blame where blame doesnt belong .a lot of us are/ were!
if you look at the period 2010 to 2024 as a picture which from 2010 to 2019 it looked a bit grim, gradually getting cleaned, ....... because physically we had pain, pain gradually easing caused by the UTTER failure of the .GOV up to 2010. but reacting to good medicine adminsitered by the the then .GOV.. it was a exercise that worked a pristine picture .........
A layer of dust and grime covered the picture from 2019 to 2023 and was being gently cleaned away come July 4th 2024 ... the cost of cleaning that picture was around £1,000,000,000,000 imagine, imagine if the picture hadnt needed to be cleaned! What we could have done with the money ... even just a half of it£500,000,000,000!!!!!
