I don’t have kids, and it was an answer, I explained how I was as a kid, actually I did have a knife when I was in the scouts and we did used to play the game where you threw the knife in the ground and had then to put your foot where it landed, or something like that, wouldn’t have ever considered using it on anyone though.

Its not an answer to what you were asked. as a parent you dont know 24/7 and you are not with your kids 24/7 and when your not its 100% inevitable your kids are going to be coming into contact with kids with weapons and drugs. our kids go to same schools and live in the same streets. outside your house its got to be the police policing the streets. theres got to be stop and search and info led policing. Parents cant be the police and if you do? you'll put you and yours in danger.

BACK IN THE DAY the local bobby would clip your ear... and though in my case he [main one ]was a friendly neighbour think there was at 2 of them maybe 3 covered where I lived when he had his helmet on you well truly had the fear of god in him. There was one family really mischievious and unruly and far from honest!!! ... one occassion their children did something that had to go before the local JP... parents and kids .. guilty and had to pay... they wouldnt didnt or couldnt ... the local bobby was on there their case for ages [ month's ] every little misdemeanor he would haul them up kids and or parents ... the husband "broke first" one of his kids did something and victims dad went round to see him perps dad ... a argument occurred and the victims dad was man handled and finished on the ground... plod had been called as it started and got there at the point dad was on floor [ we were in crowd watching!! ] plod arrested him and contacted police station in SHEPTON who sent a vehicle and he was arrested never returned to the town for about 6 weeks or so .............. they had to move as shops wouldnt serve them pubs had banned them and kids were shunned when they turned up for school.....
now I am not saying that we should adopt that approach but .... back in the day borstal used to be a deterrent !!! and when older, prison even more so [ no tele or modern day softyisms back then ].
irrespective of the age assault with a deadly weapon is serious ... part of school learning maybe 1 lesson a week should from an age from say 7 0r 8 eight upward deal with crime and consequences. Maybe a double period lesson in any subject could end with a 20 -30 min session on crime... thats every week or maybe fortnight .. emphasis on the penalty you will serve! and the effect on the victim ... then after you have served how your life as a criminal will defeat you actually getting a decent job etc.......
its called parenting!! what you do is explain to your kids or even grand kids what life is all about what is wrong and what is right ...told the story many times on here about my grandad [ blinded in WW1 had 2 fingers and a thumb on half his left hand and 2 fingers and a thumb on his other half a hand ... he made mats! ] FROM AGE OF ABOUT HE TAUGHT ME TO READ and told me what to expect from life [ as did to a point my parents ]
A PARENT STATES TO HIS CHILD you do not carry a knife and you do not stab or threaten anyone with one or else you will feel the wroth ... or I will go to jail and you will be punished also!

Every "friend I had " before about 1960 used to wear daily a sheaf knife , 4" was quite a small one! I was a scout leader after the cubs! as a cub had a sheaf knife that was about 4 half crown width's and 5 when in the scouts. It had a leather handle in the cubs but horn in the scouts.......... When I 13 I bought one at the BATH AND WEST SHOW WITH A 6" BLADE,, my school a boarding one took it off me till end of term ..but allowed us carry pocket knives with a 4-5" blade and a "spike for horses hooves or other uses on the farm!!! It had rough black handle blade folded into with a ring to attach to string or cord or clip onto belt ......
I also from 2000 completed my opinel set from a n0 1 smallest to no 15 ! still have abouts 6 iof them in coth ferrous and INOX i GROUND THE TIP TO LESS THAN 75mm on one of each of the number 7
Question was how do you know? and if you do all the things you say and life for your kids turns badly should you be held responsible for doing your all to be a good parent?
Reality is where i live knives have gone into schools, our local clubs and kids hanging round parks will have weapons and drugs. kids have been stabbed couple of hundreds metres from where we live. our kids KNOW kids stabbed and those carrying out the stabbing and kids in gangs because we live near them. do you stop your kids going to school the local youth club the park? being out on their own?
RA it is a difficult scenario to actually have a fool proof answer to. CORRECT you cant monitor your kids 24/7 maybe 12/7 and 8 of them they are asleep! but it is based on trust and honesty. I have had 3 kids and still in contact with 3 grand children. Until mid 70,s I got through at least 5 tins golden virginia and about 200 ***s a month my firsy missus smoked a little .. but in the first marriage the 2 kids never smoked and to my knowledge to today never took any drugs. and have never been in any bother. Second marriage wife smoked about 100 ***s a week our daughter to this day never smoked and never did drugs never been in bother .. 3 grand kids are the same ... it was down down basically to do as we advise ... note advise AND not what we do ... I "dont smoke, second wife has stopped..eventually! .... never been in bother.
what do they do when they go out .. are they deceitful? ... I would say 99% not.. I/we always encouraged them when at schooling age along with their friends always in holidays etc we had an "open door" a shoulder to .... and an ear for listening or giving advise! Also that telling tales out of school was WRONG but telling tales about serious things would always be sacrosanct .... they all knew it! This weeks PMQ'S he was merrily stating, and gloating over that they moving on with 3 or 4 major " plans" and in her answer to them KEMI says the PM has a short memory they are all projects the tory party had lined up to do and his opposition voted against them [ or was obstructive with them! ..TRUE TO FORM 2 Teir never answered the reply.

You cannot wholly. A parent of a child is not responsible for a crime committed by their child if they have provided reasonable care, supervision, protection, and control over children. Many crimes children commit are unrelated to their parents and the way their parents raised them as they have raised their children in loving supportive environments, and outside influences have been the drivers of offending - Parents do not tell their children to possess knives, carry knives, use knives etc this generally comes from the influence of peers and the community the child is surrounded by.

PMQ's well worth a watch! Facial expressions and speech delivery somewhat "stressed" by 2 tier Granny Harmer. And the 2 harbingers [ a person or thing that shows that something is going to happen soon, especially something bad ] in camera with dead pan faces hardly gave a smile but a couple faint smirks. In fairness whilst HE didnt actually answer any questions fully but was happy slinging or trying to mud at individuals, there was a very faint/weak response to some of the Q's .. but in the main dodged the issues.

Global finance experts have delivered a damning verdict on the state of the UK economy and blamed Chancellor Rachel Reeves.
S&P Global said: "Concerns about squeezed margins, weak customer demand and lacklustre UK economic growth prospects were all cited as weighing on business confidence in January."
In a new report looking at the state of the UK economy, the New York-based finance firm said businesses did less work in January than previous months "and the pace of job shedding accelerated to its sharpest for four years."
It said the state of the global economy was a factor, but much of the blame lay with last year's Budget which increased National Insurance for employers, pushing up the cost of employing people.
The report warned: "While some service providers commented on the impact of global economic uncertainty and elevated interest rates, many firms also linked lower new orders to weaker business confidence in the wake of the Autumn Budget."
