It's ok they'll put up our taxes across the board while they work out how to 'smash the gangs' whilst taking freebies and claiming huge heating allowances for second homes
    I won't hold my breath

In a major report, the think-tank [ Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS) ] said tax rises totalling £25billion would be needed to prevent real-terms cuts to public spending.
But Ms Reeves said the study had not taken into account unfunded pressures like the millions spent housing asylum seekers in hotels, [ wrong not Millions its £1,000,000,000'S ] billions more given to Ukraine and potentially huge sums to compensate victims of the Post Office and infected blood scandals.

Asked whether she might have to raise £50billion, she replied: 'There's a big gap and we'll have to set it all out in the Budget. circa 10% OF THAT IS TO HOUSE ILLEGALS IN HOTELS!!!!!

All are welcome under this government
They have no plans or any ideas of how to stop it, and truth be known, I don’t think they really want to

With "the budget" tomorrow I was thinking... there never was 2 budgets in a year usually one possibly in the end of the financial year? I pondered over a date to check and came up with 1985 in my mind!!! why this date?? just random ...... this is what that years budget gave................

The 1985 United Kingdom budget was delivered by Nigel Lawson, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, to the House of Commons on 19 March 1985.
The second budget to be presented by Lawson, it was held shortly after the end of the year-long 1984–85 miners' strike.
The chancellor said the cost of the strike on public borrowing had impacted on his plans for tax reductions, although he did make some changes to income tax personal allowances and stamp duty. [ reductions to be paid ]
Changes to National Insurance were also announced, but threatened to place extra costs on employers
In his statement, the chancellor told the House that the miners' strike had cost the government an extra £2.75bn in public borrowing, while national output had been reduced by 1% during 1984.
He wanted to use the budget to cut taxes, but his programme was far less reaching than he had hoped.

note/comment ...................Although he seemed to have his hands tied with the additional borrowing . and bearing in mind back then there was very high unemployment and high inflation interest rates much higher and a population of 12,000,000 less than now [ 54,000,000 ] he presented this..................

Measures announced in the 1985 budget included increasing personal allowances by up to 10%, twice the rate required to keep them abreast with inflation, a move he argued would take 800,000 families out of paying tax. A reform of National Insurance was announced, introducing lower National Insurance bands for employees, while the employers' contribution ceiling was changed to make all earnings subject to the 10.45% rather than just paying up to £265 a week as had previously been the case. Stamp duty was also reformed, with 15 different stamp duties abolished. Road tax was raised from £90 to £100, an increase that was seen as a significant milestone. Excise duty was increased on alcohol and cigarettes, with 1.5p on a pint of beer, 6p on a bottle of wine, 10p on a litre of spirits, 6p on a packet of cigarettes, and 4p on a gallon of petrol.

note /comment..........I think she may well add a few pence to last 5 items above .... eg ........1p a gallon on fuel would raise enough and more to pay the winter allowance!or at least level it all @£200!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now for some reason we have 2 budgets.......... is that so we dont get hammered say with a 4p rise on something in one hit but the 4p is 2 x 2p hits?

In 2022, Mr Johnson’s government raised National Insurance contributions for employers and employees by 1.25 percentage points to fund the NHS and social care system. This was in spite of his party promising in its 2019 manifesto not to touch the tax.
In March 2022, two weeks before the rise was announced, Ms Reeves said in Parliament: .............. “Let me remind the Chamber what he [Mr Johnson] previously said about tax: ‘Read my lips: we will not be raising taxes on income, or VAT or National Insurance’.

“This is not just another of the long list of broken vows from a leader who has a fleeting relationship with truth and accuracy. This manifesto breach now belongs to the entire Conservative government and especially the chancellor [Rishi Sunak], who seems not to want to take responsibility for his own tax rises.”

What chance do the honest public have against such hypocritical 2 faced 2 tiered dictators ... I blame the 6 million tory voters who didnt use their X and allow the the present dictatorship a gifted route into parliament ....

Ms Reeves went on to say that raising National Insurance contributions was “not just the wrong thing to do” and “a heavy burden on working people and businesses who could ill afford it” but “a broken promise”.
She added: “It is a clear and flagrant breach of the Conservative Party’s own manifesto. They promised the public that they would not do this and now they are going back on their word.”
Labour has been accused of doing the same. Earlier this month, Paul Johnson, director of the think tank Institute for Fiscal Studies, said hiking employer National Insurance contributions would be “a straightforward breach” of Labour’s manifesto.
Think tanks have also warned that companies will
pass the bulk of the increase on to employees, making the move a tax rise on working people – another thing Labour has repeatedly said it would not do.

BRISTOLMP Darren Jones another evasive answerer of Q's ..his comments very evasive ... Harmer cant identify women/ men/ etc .............. this mouth piece states that .... I am/ was not a worker, my 30 odd years plus of self employment..was not as a worker!!!!!!!

politics live is tearing him and the budget to shreds! ..........politics live & OBR & IFS are ABSOLUTELY downgrading and make negative waves on what may happen.. inflation / interest increases

Observation ............ "not raising workers taxation" well by not increasing the tax threshold they are! those just outside it with a few pounds extra like a 40 hour week giving them an extra income from minimum wage increase! start paying tax. or other end pay rises [ as some nursing staff have found now move into a higher tax bracket!

and woweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee have reduced beer by 1p a pint ...does that mean my current pint will drop from £4.40p to £4.39p .......

Fuel duty is good haulage companies would have gone bust with an increase of at the pump [ although we are now used to regular fluctuations due to Putrid etc ...........

Reducing beer by 1p is a joke
The minimum wage has gone up and energy costs are rising, so the pubs will have to pass those costs of their staff and utility bills on to the customers
And the inheritance burden on family farms is obscene and will just lead to higher food prices.

MY "local" pub gets through about 9 barrels of beer a week on average through the year [ much higher summer trade ] thats a saving for him of 9 x 70 = £6.30 its straight from the barrel and so no expensive cleaning agent/ pipework etc and little ullage to worry about!
really shows a total lack of savvy "by the ex economist" of the BOE WHO BTW's chief economist at present [ would have been her boss "chief economist" title ] totally blew comments out of the water!
Today she admits that "the working people will suffer" through lesser wage rises from now on!

S0 all you workers out there who voted them in or the workers who didnt vote for their party[a FEW MILLION tory ] that gifted Lab our a non population % mandate to become .gov ENJOY your come uppance

HERE WE GO stockmarket plunging .... loads of differing investigations and reports prove no £22bn black hole part of black hole from Labours view of projected illegal crossings cost after cancelling Rwanda!!!!!!!!..............

The FTSE 100 slumped to its lowest level in almost three months this morning, with traders apparently rattled by Rachel Reeves' tax and spend Budget yesterday.
The Chancellor's package of financial measures included far-reaching changes impacting Stamp Duty, Capital Gains Tax National Insurance Contributions (NIC) for employers and Inheritance Tax, among other key areas.
Ms Reeves has attempted to justify her approach by saying drastic measures were necessary to plug a £22billion financial black hole she claims she was left by the Tories.
However, the FTSE, THE United Kingdom's best-known stock market index, appears to be unconvinced, and after an immediate dip yesterday, it fell by 52.9 points shortly after trading got underway this morning, at one point dropping to 8.106.73 - the lowest it has been since August 8.

I’ve just read that our annual welfare bill is £258bn a year !! A simply mind boggling amount
22 million people in this country are on benefits of one kind or another, that’s almost a third of the population
Here’s an idea for all politicians, stop the free handouts and get a grip on it

I may be wrong but does that include benefits to people that are working as well?, we subsidise employers to pay poverty wages, that then need to be topped up by the state ( the rest of us). If the figures you quote don’t include these then I apologise, but the point still stands, the rest of us subsidise low wages. It’s a bizarre system. It’s not a party point as both Tory and Labour have supported it over the years.

i HAVE been looking for a media report or interview that has something positive to say about RR's unresearched consequences budget on 30 th October 2024.... need some help as cant find any ... not even amongst a few Labourites that say " I didnt vote for that" ........

In the run-up to the General Election, Sir Keir Starmer claimed that he led a "changed" party which would govern from the centre, foster wealth creation and promote fiscal restraint. How hollow those pledges now sound. Rarely in British history has an incoming Government been so dishonest about its intentions.
It is now clear that the stance of moderation was cynically designed to mislead voters, while Reeves and Starmer plotted a return to full-blooded socialism, where the private wealth and enterprise are ruthlessly plundered to provide cash for a bloated, inefficient public sector run in the narrow interests of its workforce rather than the needs of the country.
The impulse to deceive the public is fast becoming one of the hallmarks of this Government. Even the normally restrained Institute for Fiscal Studies accused Reeves of indulging in "silly manoeuvres" to conceal the impact of her policies, while Labour have resorted to endless linguistic gymnastics about the definition of "working people" to distract attention from the breach of the party's promise not to increase national insurance.

The Bristol MP Darren Jones must be a real masochist! there is at least 5 interviews probably more, [might even get appearance money of a few 000's] he has done and been torn to shreds in each one eventually admitting the lies and chaos

I don’t have the specific details, just the headline
Whatever the details are, it’s a simply staggering amount of money
If any government could get the slackers working, or start taking away their benefits if they make no efforts, and get really REALLY tough on the illegals we wouldn’t need such unfair tax rises on the hard workers of Britain
