He isn’t though is he? , you may deflect by mocking, but you didn’t deal with the point, Jenrick is making a play to be the leader of the opposition, obviously he’s not a unbiased observer. That’s a fact. My point was more about Jenricks motive, rather than whether Kier has been foolish, which obviously he has.

Jenricks comments were just 1 2/3 line in a couplee of a paragraph's of comments.............

however UTUBE has a bucket load of video's of real "world media" commentaries, along with some really down to earth factual comical "entres" and hindsight re pastes of Tory plans ...
AND numerous slap downs on the £22bn so called black hole which is admitted that £9bn of it is simply to fund the pay rises to train drivers on £65k per annum v pensioners on £11k or less

the 4 times failed to answer, interview with more than 1 presenter gets the same answer will you apologise to or why the pensioners? gets the same screwed up face retort

"we got left with a £22bn Blackhole" ....... when they actually didnt they made it a lot of it themselves £9bn of it
CHECK OUT THE VIDEO'S on Utube ......HE really dosent have answer and like when at the dispatch before was regularly slapped down ....... also on there is some of rattlesnake Reeves vid's she is like a AI robot AND THE BADENOCH SPEECH ONE IS A MUST...its about 13 mins long and talking straight to ANGELA RAYNER.......... deputy pm [ who FREEGEAR KEIR DOSENT actully feel comfortable with as his deputy ]

ps AR has to buils 1.5million homes in next term ... thats 300,000 perannum so far 3 months in and so far only houses being built were approved before July 4th watch the Badenoch utube ........

oh ps forgot Tories built 2.5 million/ [gave future planning] to build more than 2,500,000 NEW HOUSES [ was around 200,000 pa ]

i guess Invere could give us clue on a few of the esswntials that cost money! like income tax etc etc ... finally HMRC have released the figures for the income tax receipts for 20/21

Freedom of Information laws and relate to 2021/22, the latest year for which data is available.
That year, the UK had a total income tax receipt of £225bn, with contributions from some 33m taxpayers.
The 60 people with incomes of more than £50m made up just 0.0002% of UK taxpayers and together paid 1.4% of the income tax receipt. [ more than £3bn a year in income tax, BBC working out ]

    note
although that figure states top 60 who will also pay other taxes like capital gains / vat on more expensive items? there are over 3.1 million millionaires in the uk assume incomes of circa £100k and tax at 40% = £124,000,000,000
IFS,, Institute for fiscal studies .............The IFS has said a way to dissuade wealthy individuals from leaving the UK could be to introduce an "exit tax".

From a leading media economist/ financial writer [ in precis form ]

Reeves is brilliant in theory. She moved effortlessly from Oxford Uni to the London School of Economics then Bank of England, before becoming the UK's first female chancellor. That's a brilliant CV. Unfortunately, it hasn't survived her first brush with reality.
After just a few months in the job, her paper credentials have collapsed like a house of cards. The UK economy could soon follow suit. Shortly after Reeves took charge in July, I counted eight things that were starting to go right for the UK economy as the cost-of-living crisis finally started to ease.

Now Reeves has sunk the lot. Everything she touches falls to pieces.

Reeves and Starmer have unleashed havoc by talking down the UK economy and warning of the awful Budget heading our way on October 30. They have destroyed consumer confidence, as people are too terrified to spend money in case they get clobbered, hitting high street spending.
Business confidence has dropped for the first time in a year as bosses anxiously await tax hikes, according to the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. The UK is set to lose the greatest proportion of millionaires in the world as wealthy residents flee Labour's wealth crackdown. That means no more tax from them.

Last month investors pulled a staggering £1billion out of funds investing in UK shares. Edward Glyn, head of global markets at Calastone, which produced the research, blamed Labour's "pessimistic commentary about the UK economy" for killing off the UK stock market revival. Today, saw yet more evidence of the damage Reeves has caused.

Liontrust Asset Management has become the latest company to criticise the Government for knocking investor confidence by raising the prospect of significant tax changes. The business said it had suffered net outflows of more than a billion pounds in the last three months amid growing concerns around the Oct 30 fiscal event. The UK is running a huge deficit and only plugs it by borrowing money from international investors, collectively known as the bond market The interest alone costs us around £100billion a year, almost as much as we spend on the state pension. Now the price of borrowing that money has shot up. Again, thanks to Reeves.[ We now pay more than twice as much interest to borrow money as Germany ]

Now Reeves is trying a few tricks of her own. As I wrote yesterday, she's expected to fiddle the books to allow her to spend an extra £57billion. All of which will be added to our £2.57trillion national debt.Reeves hoped hiking capital gains tax would raise £8billion. Instead, the move will cost the Treasury £2billion as taxpayers take evasive action. Her plans to tax non-doms are in disarry as they flee to friendlier climes in Italy, Switzerland or Dubai.

Plans to synchronise pensions tax relief at 30% have been axed on the say-so of public sector unions. And I haven't even mentioned the Winter Fuel Payment debacle. Reeves is presiding over a non-stop rolling calamity. With the Halloween Budget just three weeks away, she risks sending the UK back into the abyss. How will that look on her CV?

Note… The yield on the 10-year UK bonds, known as gilts, has jumped from 3.75% to 4.22% in less than a month, as global investors lose faith in our economy. That means we're paying even more money on our debts, and since gilt yields help determine mortgage rates, homeowners will pay more interest, too.
Rising bond yields ultimately sunk former Tory PM Liz Truss, whose reckless and unfunded tax cuts spooked the bond market and sent mortgage rates soaring past 6%.

on the eve of 100 days [ Friday 11th Oct ] recent polls have been posted............

For the first time since the election, Labour trails the Tories in both the 55 to 64 age group category and the 65 and over category.
In an even more concerning development, Sir Keir’s party now also trails Reform UK in both categories.

a YouGov survey found four in 10 voters believe the country is in a worse state since the general election, with half of Labour voters now saying they feel let down.
Six in 10 disapprove of Sir Keir’s record so far, with just under a fifth saying they approve.
And, in a sign of voters’ apathy, more than a third (37 per cent) said they do not have high hopes for the rest of the government’s term – but are willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.

IPSOS ............ a sign of how quickly the tide has turned against the government, the party has fallen from a net favourability rating of +6 after the general election to -21 now,
Sir Keir’s own favourability rating has fallen to -26, the worst it has been since he took over as Labour leader in 2020.
Asked to give the government a score out of 10, a sample of more than 1,000 voters scored it 3.8, down from 4.4 last month.
Ipsos politics director Keiran Pedley said the figures will “make difficult reading for Keir Starmer”. “With six in 10 not confident in Labour’s long-term economic plan,

Sir Keir has already attempted to reset the agenda three times with announcements about restricting gifts in the future and paying back some he received. Now he is being forced to reset his top team.
The latest polling followed a Techne survey for The Independent which showed support for Labour falling to 29 per cent down five points from the election and two points below last week

As unpopular as Starmer and the grifter that is Rayner are, there’s nothing that anyone can do with the majority that Labour have
Had the Tories done even a half decent job of being conservative, we wouldn’t be in this unfolding mess

How nice it is to see Canada first at something in the world but I would rather it be in something more positive. British Columbia is the highest priced province in Canada in which to live and so that is the cost of living in a paradise out here on the west coast. Your average leg of lamb now cost $50+ and as such is not on our shopping list and if beef is your thing then expect to pay about $40 for a good quality steak, but we are not moo-cow fans. We do tend to look for bargains and we have to do that in order to bring our weekly staples purchases back somewhere close to where it was prior to the Covid troubles. We are told that inflation in the last year has been about 4% but they forget to tell you that those statistics are based on prices of a year ago, but if you go back to pre-covid that inflation rate has to be around 35/40% at best.. A single apple is costing about 65p and all fruits are at about the same along, with vegetables and most other things. As retirees in our 80's and late 70's we manage quite well and one of big enjoyments was dining out but the $20-25 breakfast is now more like $45-50 which is almost double what it was in 2021 - OUCH. :headbang:
