an increase in the population over 10 years needs a FEW MORE cities like Manchester Bristol Liverpool Birmingham Glasgow and Edinburgh to accomodate...

in perspective Bristol is around 50 sq miles with a population of <500,000 so need 20 ? cities like that to accomodate 10,000,000 !

they disapear into the black economy of their own choosing ... although a very small percent are trafficked to be usually sex workers / criminals ... when their visa is up/ stroke claim being refused they melt away
the % is likely only about 0.01% thata about 1 in 10,000

bet you dont get an answer!

Are you saying the numbers of illegal immigrants are higher than legal ones?, I’m pretty sure most people don’t believe that.

If we can process the illegals and separate the legitimate from the others, then the legitimate can also get jobs, pay taxes and become valuable members of society. What’s not to like. Whilst we need to try to find a way to prevent them getting here the ones already here still have to be dealt with.

they are illegal so should not be here so yes .......... a very high % of the migrants legally working here get to put in for British citizenship .. learn English and become part of us .. also a high % of legals come to work for some of the time then go home

If you’re happy with people being used in the sex industry against their will, or as slaves in car washes etc, then no they can’t be.

They may have arrived via illegal routes, but they are still human beings. Or maybe we should find them and have public hangings?

    What a daft question

Could you answer this regarding Labours immigration policy.

What are the costs of Labour granting amnesty to nearly 100,000 illegal migrants? How does this deter further illegal immigrants crossing the channel from the safety of France?

Labour has stated that there is no need for unskilled immigration into the UK frequently. Are these illegal immigrants entering the Country skilled?

I’m not responsible for making the decision to grant amnesty to these people, I suggest you ask these questions to those that allowed the problem to develop in the first place.

However these people are here now , they are here largely due to the failure of the last government to put measures in place to either stop them coming, or to process them once they arrived. Something has to be done with them, what do you suggest?

The previous government failed to deal with the problem, not only stopping them coming, but failing to process them once they’ve arrived. I’m happy to at least give this government time to resolve the situation before passing judgement. At least if we can deal with the backlog it’ll mean we can process new arrivals quicker, which may help discouraging so many arriving.

As for unskilled immigration, obviously if you don’t process arrivals quickly they can come by that route, which you have no control over, again all the more reason to speed up the process.

We have to not only stop the boats, but also sort out the backlog, so we can process people quickly. The cost of not sorting out the backlog is enormous

Ashton didnt put a figure on 100,000 amnesty but likely to be circa £1,000.000.000,000 bearing in mind the number of those awaiting processing is in excess of 150,000 and the increasing daily numbers , as the means to make the uk unviable was removed and the border force which was labour's answer to stopping them is non existant........
YOU CAN SEE WHY THE PENSIONERS being robbed was part of it, besides trying to make the .GOV guilty of the £22bn black hole [ REALITY IT IS ONLY £13BN AT MOST ] .. it blindsides the population into the major problems they have illegal immigration [ is just one ] . now zoooming past last years figures and potentially going to be a massive rise in our taxes they are going to need to fill .....

the daily cost at the moment is £15,000,000 weekly cost at the moment is circa + £105,000,000 1 month is therefore ££450,000.000 and a quarter [ next 3 month's ] is paid for by this years winter heating fuel allowance being robbed from the pensioners

    Ashton

the problem is pre July 4th the backlog was being whittled down slowly. However by encouraging a massive change in the UK IS NOT A WELCOME PLACE by offering 70-100,000 free places the balance of whittling down was shot down and the staff doing the processing are diverted to an ever increasing number!? and need to simply process the ones arriving to put them in the que.

I think from memory toward end of 2023 there was about 140 -150.000 in the que ... since then another 40,000 has joined it?

Despite the lack of growth in July, Liz McKeown, director of economic statistics at the Office for National Statistics (ONS) said "longer term strength in the services sector meant there was growth over the last three months as a whole".

    note
2 month's of tory and 1 of Labour ... OH ooops LABOUR'S MONTH DIDNT GROW!

I will ask a question now, who was it that allowed the backlog in the first place?. It’s a straight forward question, a one word answer will suffice .

these are the known boat crossing figures for the past 12 month's
In May the tory party started to publish the figures of "purported" successes in stopping sailings
However these "stopped individuals just rejoined the que?"
So crossing not really stopped just averted!
This chart is from the .gov site I have gone back over 12 month's. [ actually looking at chart going back to 2018 some interesting spikes and troughs ] from May 2024 after the .GOV paid the French and reset the patrols and joined the gang pursuance in stronger detail they started publishing their successes.

You can determine by the numbers, [of ] smaller boats are being stopped [ take June ave of 53 per boat sailed stopped is 38, take off the biggest 3 boats stopped and the ave drops quite a bit! ] ALL THESE PEOPLE STOPPED will of course keep trying!

WHILST NOT STOPPING THE CROSSINGS it was having an effect! AVERAGE the Labours 9 weeks at 995 v other 43 weeks == 510

Interestingly Rachel Reeves receives an annual salary of £163,000.

She OKs a £10,000 increase for hard up 4day week Train Drivers.
Reeves has claimed £3,700 in the last 5 years for, would you believe, heating allowance.

And cuts the winter fuel payment for may thousands of pensioners.

Welcome to the Labour government's priorities.

NO consistently based compared to the "black hole " Labour" left in 2010 the £22bn is peanuts............. and the boat people WELL in 14 years Labour never had a plan to deal with them ... now they have the job .. but no clue what to do as rather take £1.5bn from pensioners to deflect the real problems they have , and bear in mind £9bn of that £22bn was yet to be raised before April 2025 with the trending benefit of a dropping inflation rate dropping interest rate a growing economy and more income tax being raised through the higher pay rates established in the past 12 month's ...

Downside is whilst the deterrent was there fewer crossed .. so less needing to be spent.. Labour has realised that the boat people is costing £millions extra every week to what it was or was budgeted for you do realise we could have as many as 200,000 needing accomodation phones pocket money food besides an unpaid drain on our NHS that is likely to be around £8,320,000,000 plus NHS costs!

then there is the catch 22 / chicken and egg if they give just 10,000 a ticket to stay .. where do they live and pretty much all will be then be claimants needing a house / flat/ rent plus usual amonts unemployed get .. with no jobs and little money likely add to homeless or poverty stricken .. enter blackmarket .... do real people out of work and fat cat dubious employers ...its an evil circle they have woven themselves

GREAT NEWS about the building new homes that will start next year as the tory build for 2024 is already looking good for the near future .. and the energy company that is going to reduce our energy bills thats doing fine probably still a few notes on back of postage stamp ....

extra tax from ASLEF 's will likely pay for 7500 of the near 10,000 boat people landed since July 4th ....... [ thats just the ones they publish mind you! ]
