My guess is if he went to work for someone else they would need to buy out his contract, maybe pay a year's salary. If he resigned he would just be unable to manage another club unless they paid NUFC that money pro rata. That would be my guess and it's probably similar to most managers' contracts, i.e. Blackburn having to pay £3.6m for Souness back in the day. I'm not convinced about this idea of him having to pay the club to resign - would it be legal and has it ever happened in football before?
Anyone else thinking the Sturridge move was a brilliant distraction? Ultimately we’ve spent a week lowballing our ‘number one’ target and when his club declare we’ve failed to meet both their price and deadline everyone’s still too pissed off about losing Sturridge to West bloody Brom!
