He’s doing better than expected of late but the guy is a complete arsehole for me despite any success he may bring. Promotion is what matters to fans, not top 6 or a trip to Wembley. Anything else is failure for a club like ours.
He’s not the most likeable bloke, has clearly got a bit of a chip on both shoulders which won’t ever make it easy for him when results are not good.
Spot on. Play-offs achieved. Now target automatic. 48 points still to play for, possible season tally of 98. Not as good as Powell in 2012, but a decent finish after such a rubbish start. Jones could be forgiven.
If we narrowly miss out you have to look at the situation he inherited from Appleton &co. We were heading for L2.
Because we were absolute sh1t. Kept conceding late goals, 5 clean sheets all season. Now we score late goals, and if we don't go up I won't be blaming NJ, he's been a positive influence. Dr Will also deserves credit for our fitness and lack of injuries.
A good interview with Nathan Jones on Charlton TV. Fair play to him & credit where it’s due, he’s put the building blocks in place & we are now reaping the rewards.
When people were going mental and wanting sackings after the Crawley home game, I maintained calm and stability was required. @Watameire do you remember that fella?!
I dunno much about formations and that stuff. But we do look organised, committed and fit save for chuks. Jonesy has shown to me that he is a clever manager. I suppose the acid test is when we lose bouncing back. Orient two weeks ago looked nailed on for the playoffs now I’m not so sure
Jones just can’t help himself He had a couple of unnecessary pops at players post match last night - Referencing Godden wasting his rest day walking round Bluewater with a Costa Coffee doing high fives with fans ? Querying why Docherty’s wife had an elective caesarean on the day of her husband’s football match. I’m not sure either of these comments were particularly wise.
Nathan Jones is the gaffer after all, and he's bound to have feelings (apparently strong ones) about players' down time activities. But I must agree this seems a bit excessive regarding Godden. And why say it in public like this? If NJ wasn't happy about his player's activities, surely better to have a quiet word. It's good to have high standards, but this is League One and not the top end of the Prem. Cut the guys a bit of slack, especially now results are coming. The bit about Docherty's wife is rather odd too. I get the impression there is relevant information related to that which we don't know - and what we have been told is perhaps too much anyway. It's a private matter.
A bad decision as we’ve looked so much better when Godden starts -he’s letting his personal thoughts get in the way of the team’s performance
