Hmm, what's an 'in the know' internet football fan? I think you'll find, Loiner, that John Eustace decided not to go to Leeds, for whatever reason, and for which we are very grateful. Since he obviously has no medical problems, and has not had for most of the season, i think your 'good authority' might just have it wrong in this case.
<laugh>

Sounds like the typical smug, 'in the know' internet football fan but I have it on good authority that Eustace did fail his medical.

Isn't what you said exactly what you criticised in the very same sentence? I could say that I have it on 'good authority' that he didn't fail the medical... doesn't make it correct though!! We can only go by what we were told, and we were told that he didn't fail the medical, so I'd rather believe that than a 'typical smug, in the know internet football fan' who has a 'contact'.

The stats this season show he hasn't had a medical problem, so your loss is our gain... so let's hope he 'fails a medical' at Derby too!

Our local paper stated quite categorically, Loiner, that he did not fail the medical. They are usually very accurate on factual pieces of information and had no reason to lie about that. If anyone is "in the know" it is usually local journalists. Also the fact that he played a season without showing this mysterious injury tends to disprove Leeds account. i suspect they were just embarrassed that a player from a little club like Watford would not move to the supreme Leeds

I might be a tad biased , but I think JE would be better off staying as mentioned above for when he is ready to hang up the boots and move into coaching and management! Down the line who knows SD will be manager and JE might be his no 2

There are many things I'm uncomfortable about with this one. Clearly the club needs to "cash in on its stars", but the money on offer doesn't make much difference to our debt.

At Preston I noticed the way Danny Graham, Don Cowie and Eustace threw their shirts into the crowd and I did wonder about fond farewells. Eustace has been talked about a lot recently amongst my mates and one raised a question mark over his fitness/effectiveness. I'm not sure as I've questioned some players fitness in the last few games after we reached the safety limit. Certainly I have commented before about our players "running out of gas" recently.

Is is clear a number of big players will leave us this summer, but the key is replacing them. When I look at any team I look at the spine and the partnerships. Tiny and Maps are solid enough and have enough experience. Eustace has carried the midfield for large periods this season - how many partners has he had??? Up front Danny Graham has really put a shift in. Yes the club has to sell players, but I don't want the pairings to be de-stabilised.

I believe the club needs big cash to come in and the Sarries news and this are just "small cash", the kind you find down the back of the sofa - the kind which doesn't make enough difference.

Glad you find cash down the back of your sofa Elixir - I tend to find peas, greasy chips and unidentifiable brown things :)

The person I spoke to must have been lying then. I guess they might have been misinformed by someone in the club, Bates can be very forceful when it comes to his truth versus other people's truth. There's no solid evidence either way, just postulation from local journalists so I'll leave it at that.

Journalists do tend to make things up...who ever knows who to trust. ;)..but i guess we can go on what we see on the pitch.

Good luck with next season Loiner :)...the next few weeks are really dull, feel free to visit anytime! :)

Thanks, I always despise this part of the season so it'd be nice to hang with the Horns. Maybe nick Don Cowie off you too. And I'm not normally one of these smarmy 'in the know' people, hence the warning on my post before.

;) and i'm not smug lol

i hate this part of the season too...! i do think someone will come in for Don Cowie, but i'm hoping we don't lose too many of our key players this summer..it's a very scary time for us, because if we lose the likes of Cowie and Eustace, we don't have anyone ready to take their place.

Fair enough Loiner (Il Duce?).

I think it was a case of both the teams and the player trying to 'save face' and the fans hearing what they need to hear.

Good call Loiner - and you're right we only go on what we are told or read and we never quite get the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth <ok>

You wont be very welcome if you nick Cowie
