Neil Warnock's fight for DJ Campbell Simon Johnson 3 Aug 2011 Queens Park Rangers manager Neil Warnock is confident he will beat off a late bid by Aston Villa to complete the £1.25million signing of Blackpool striker DJ Campbell in the next few days. Warnock has made the 29-year-old his top transfer priority and has put pursuing all other targets on hold to ensure the deal is completed. The QPR boss still hopes to make two or three more signings before their season opener against Bolton next week but Liverpool midfielder Joe Cole won't be one of them. The former Chelsea midfielder has been linked with a loan move to Loftus Road, with Liverpool prepared to pay some of his wages, but Warnock has ruled out a deal for the England international. QPR are still in takeover negotiations with Air Asia owner Tony Fernandes, who met with Warnock on Saturday to discuss transfer targets. But even though Fernandes is going to invest heavily in the club, it is understood Warnock won't be getting a big budget to spend on fees and wages, ruling out any move for Cole. Tbf, I've read a lot from this guy Johnson and he does seem to guess a lot. Don't believe all you read in the papers
Cheers Gaz, good point! http://www.oddschecker.com/football...le-specials/club-after-summer-transfer-window
It states "Club After Summer Transfer Window" and his current employer is not an option, that's why the odds are low. Adel Taarabt to join PSG 1/4 at the moment. I wouldn't read to much into it.
He can go half way through the season. we will know our strength and weaknesses by then. If he must go .. Obviously, staying would be phenomenon
Great signing if it comes off IMO. I would just like to say that all this is driving me to drink! Oh, that's already happened, what the hell!
Just seen on newsnow that Liverpool and QPR have agreed a season long loan deal for Joe Cole to come to us. Than must include wages and how much of his weekly wad they will pay. Apparently, he's on his way to discuss things with us.
Joe Cole has reportedly sold his house so there must be some substance to this. Good buy for QPR if true, although he is a shadow of the player he was 2/3 years ago before he picked up that injury at Southend. At the age of 29, QPR will provide him with a platform to perform and I hope he succeeds
Marc Bircham has just twittered that "Cole has just done the medical at the training ground" Hmm I know he likes a good laugh but he wouldn't be joking about that would he?
Ahh maybe he would as his next comment is "But I'm sorry to say SHE has failed it on the Malaria again ha ha ..." Bastard
Don't know Gloucester? ======================= marcbircham Marc Bircham Cole has just done the Medical at the Training Ground.. @Moose_talkSPORT @Lomobife
