The link on the Offish Liverpool website is still only on the transfer rumours page and is a re-hash of the Talksport link. Still a. Not sure we want him b. Not sure we could afford him
Suprised they put gossip like that about their own player on their own website, where it then goes on about this is basically a rumour from Talksport.
Liverpool will only pay a 1/3 of his wages! So we have to fork out 60k a week! Cant see that happening.
Apparently, those terms have already been agreed... the terms of between the clubs I mean. They wouldn't agree those terms if they weren't interested. But now they've got to talk to Cole and try and get him to agree the lowest wages possible.
Today's Times is reporting his weekly wage at Liverpool at £110,000. If they pay a third we still have to stump up £73,260 A WEEK. Tell me again that this is going to happen when we're looking at giving Troy a squad number and looking at Puncheon as a cheaper Routledge option. Get real and smell the coffee (arabica preferably).....its a Cerny rumour punt at best.
QPR step up move for Liverpool misfit Cole on season-long loan By SPORTSMAIL REPORTER Last updated at 10:52 AM on 3rd August 2011 Comments (0) Add to My Stories Share Liverpool are weighing up whether to offload Joe Cole to QPR in a season-long loan move. The Barclays Premier League new boys are hoping to strike a deal with the Reds over the England midfielder, who has failed to impress since joining from Chelsea last summer. Liverpool could be ready to pick up a third of Cole's wage packet while he plays for the Loftus Road outfit, according to talkSPORT. Chance to shine: Joe Cole in pre-season action against Malaysia last month QPR face competition from Cole's former club West Ham, who are also interested in bringing him back to Upton Park on a season-long loan as they chase promotion back to the top flight at the first attempt. Cole has found himself on the periphery of the team in an injury-hit first season at Liverpool, and Kenny Dalglish's arrival in January only served to push him further into the margins. Old boy: Cole is wanted by former club West Ham The 29-year-old playmaker has featured heavily during the club's pre-season matches, but did not do his chances any good with an anonymous display in the embarrassing 3-0 loss to Hull on July 23. But Dalglish's assistant Steve Clarke last month appeared to offer Cole a lifeline, suggesting he would get another chance to convince the Reds hierarchy that his future belongs at the club. 'At the end of last season he (Cole) was not getting in the team because the team was playing well,' said Clarke. 'But he has trained hard and gone away and had a good summer. 'Joe Cole is a top international player. He has got a big contribution to make to the future. He is the same Joe Cole I coached at Chelsea, just a couple of years older and a little wiser. He has always had this same fantastic attitude. 'He knows the position he is in. It has been difficult for him because he has not been involved but, when he gets the chance, it is up to him to take it.' More... I don't know if it's 90k or 110k or something in between, some of it might even be image rights for all i know. But if this is to happen i believe the likely scenario would be, L'pool forking out 1/3 and QPR pays 1/3. The last 1/3 would have to be a loss for J.Cole just so that he can play football again and put himself in the shop window for both a permanent transfer next summer AND a place in the England squad for Euro 2012 in Poland/Ukraine. I don't se that as totally unrealistic as any footballer with an ounce of ambition should look for such an oppurtunity.
According to Talksport, Joe Cole is in a meeting with Warnock. He will sign on a season long loan with QPR paying two thirds of his wages. Once personal terms are agreed, it's a done deal.
I can't see him being paid more than £25,000 from QPR. Warnock has brought a few people in who might have expected that, or more, but have done a deal for less. If Cole comes along and they find the club is paying out more than their £25k ceiling, then they would not be happy bunnies. So if on £90k that would mean £25k QPR, £30k Liverpool and £35k write-off by Cole. Still puts him on £55k/week (+ bonuses, etc, etc) = over £3m a year. I'd settle for that!
I agree Eamon, but I can't see it. Whilst he has a great natural talent, I don't think he has ' Football Intelligence. ' His best days are behind him. He is exactly the kind of player we don't need, I dont think he is hungry enough to re-prove himself, and spends a lot of the season injured. ( Perhaps Cole & Dyer can work in tandem on that one! ) Still, if he does sign, there is one man who can get him great again.... In Warnock we trust.
So the only source for this rumour despite all the references on here including the Liverpool site itself remains TalkSport. As many have said there is no permutation on salary that would not drive a coach and horses through Warnock's wage cap so isnt it simply isn't going to happen unless it coincides with new owners. Oh, and on the CernyBeny debate I too am glad to have stuff from what appears to be a reasonable source but I can't do with all this cryptic nonsense. Just say what you've heard please.
Yes but this is just talk sport not liverpool FC cant see it happening i think he is on 90K a week we have to pay 2/3rds of that which is what 60k no chance.
Isn't there some truth that Cole and his Mrs cannot settle up in Merseyside? Surely a loan move would put him back in sotlight and possibly secure him a permanent move in 12 months time. Also somewhat surprised that Harry (and Spuds) haven't made a move for him - he was always a Harry's boy.
There is no way in the pit of hedes we are gonna pay this guy more than £25k a week, when that's what we're paying a current England International. Take the £25k, whatever Liverpool are willing to contribute to, and take the hit on the rest......... Or play out the rest of your career in Liverpool Res.
