And that one of the big changes that Southgate reportedly made was to stop there being a Liverpool table and a Man U table etc at meal times and leave their club loyalties behind them whilst away with England. A lesson learned from the woeful underachievement of the 'golden generation'

following the example set by England's players since 2007. In that time, all the appearance fee money they would have received has instead gone to the England Footballers Foundation, which has distributed more than £5m to charities.
