It's really not difficult to understand, so for your benefit I will explain.

I like a squad to have a good blend of youth and experience. We have this experience blend in abundance in all areas of the pitch, except the forward line - which I would still consider as greatly inexperienced. Inexperience can be not having played that many league games, or not many games in that country, it can also be age related or simply adapting to a country (Hernandez has taken over a year to adapt to a different language/culture/climate) dropping down a division has probably helped him greatly.

Roofe as a midfielder - no problem. We have bags of experienced players in midfield with a huge amount of league games under their belt. So, adding him would be straight forward as you are simply adding to that pool of ages. Age dynamics tend to work better when there's a spectrum (age and experience) in the way that Campbell and Windass gelled for example.

The Madden suggestion is because he's a player with a point to prove, he's not far off the leading scorer in league one despite being played as a winger - I'd say that's pretty impressive. He's also supposed to be quick and direct. This was suggested only as an addition to an experienced striker. He's also played 139 league games.

I think any club needs 4 strikers as a minimum to cover form and injuries, at the moment we've only got Hernandez, Akpom and Diomande as strikers. Aluko/Diame are simply not strikers. Diomande is out injured, it could well take him a year to find his feet in England. So we have 2 strikers currently fit, Hernandez who is having his breakthrough season in English football and Akpom who is trying to have a breakthrough season. We've also got the inexperienced Diomande, who may feature before the season finishes, he is very inexperienced in this league.

So in order to develop our current forwards, throw on in tight games to close them out, I'd still much rather have a seasoned centre forward - to help Diomande, Akpom and Hernandez (Offer something on and off the pitch) We are very naive at times up front, Bamford just isn't going to offer that to our current line up, he's still a kid himself. He's played a few games, scored a few goals - we need more than that at this moment in time in my opinion.

It's a shame there isn't a Windass kicking around from our first promotion to the PL. He'd be spot on.

Thanks for that, as it was not as easy to understand as you may think; as I said your statements definitely seemed to be contradictory to the point of not being feasible. But I now get the gist, but would make these comments:

Campbell was suggested in conversation, he is experienced and accomplished at this level, so would add ability and experience in the Championship - your stated needs would be met. (the fact it is unlikely he would come is academic).

We all know who we have got, we nearly all agree we need a striker. As opposed to being naive up-front, I think it is better said that we simply fail to take our chances, having done the hard work of having got into position. Bamford takes his chances. To be fair, Akpom came good today against Bury, not a great benchmark, but a big positive as a striker - we need to see more of that when he plays in the Championship, where we have seen him fail to do it so far.

Bamford is 22 yrs old, when do you consider someone not to be a kid? In 18 months, as good a snapshot on long-term form as you will get, he scored (in the Championship) Derby 8 from 21; Boro 17 from 38. He's done nowt in the PL so far, but, then again, neither have we.

Compare when Windass was at Bradford (same level) 2005-6 - 16 from 40; 2006-7 - 11 from 25; the Hull City (loan) 2006-7 - 8 from 18, signed 2007-8 - 11 from 37.

Not dissimilar really, but where Windass hit the rails, Bamford could go on.

It's a goalscorer we need, crib or zimmer is fairly academic IMO, as long as he scores the goals to get us up, then we can sort it properly.

It's as much about the development of the players and passing on from their experience bank, there's a lot to be said for it. It's my opinion, so it may not be correct, it's simply what I would prefer to see. It has bugged me most this season, not for the home games but definitely some of the away games when we've looked a bit wobbly. I think age and experience is greatly under estimated.

It seems like we're getting Powell, who for me doesn't tick either box. I just hope Hernandez stays on track and injury free.

Celtic signed pat Roberts from city for 18 months. Cannot believe no prem club or championship got him. Though city seem to give Celtic the pick of one players. Must be some tie in.

He means Manchester City.

Anyone referring to them on this board as "City" really needs to be taken to the Linnet car park.
Fairly obvious what was meant. Any club with city I tend to shorten through laziness.

Anyone that gets that bothered by that sort of thing needs taken to a doctor. Or left in a dark room.

Yeah, he's not even spelling it right. The Manc version is 'Citeh'.
Is it your time of the month? You have spent all week arguing with people on here. As explained it's just laziness. I think people that get bothered about that kind of thing tend to have an inferiority complex. If I were you lad I would take a night off and chill. You've clearly had a tough one.

Come on TB, you've dropped a bollock mate - the only City on this board is Hull City, you know it is; we're not all as clued up as you are on PL squad players ........ GLP's having a bit of banter, roll with it!

It's a joke, lighten up. I haven't argued with 'everyone' all week.

Inferiority complex? Touché!

Fair enough. I wouldn't say clued up. They signed him for 12 mil in the summer off fulham. Just surprised they are letting the lad go that quick and 18 months seems long for a loan. Would have been a great signing for us.
