Thanks for that, as it was not as easy to understand as you may think; as I said your statements definitely seemed to be contradictory to the point of not being feasible. But I now get the gist, but would make these comments:
Campbell was suggested in conversation, he is experienced and accomplished at this level, so would add ability and experience in the Championship - your stated needs would be met. (the fact it is unlikely he would come is academic).
We all know who we have got, we nearly all agree we need a striker. As opposed to being naive up-front, I think it is better said that we simply fail to take our chances, having done the hard work of having got into position. Bamford takes his chances. To be fair, Akpom came good today against Bury, not a great benchmark, but a big positive as a striker - we need to see more of that when he plays in the Championship, where we have seen him fail to do it so far.
Bamford is 22 yrs old, when do you consider someone not to be a kid? In 18 months, as good a snapshot on long-term form as you will get, he scored (in the Championship) Derby 8 from 21; Boro 17 from 38. He's done nowt in the PL so far, but, then again, neither have we.
Compare when Windass was at Bradford (same level) 2005-6 - 16 from 40; 2006-7 - 11 from 25; the Hull City (loan) 2006-7 - 8 from 18, signed 2007-8 - 11 from 37.
Not dissimilar really, but where Windass hit the rails, Bamford could go on.
It's a goalscorer we need, crib or zimmer is fairly academic IMO, as long as he scores the goals to get us up, then we can sort it properly.
