He played up front on Boxing Day, I know this because RH were completely Scunny-centric for the entire journey home from the KC.

Yes they were - you'd think they were top of League 1 rather than just below mid-table with all the fuss they made. Bet they wouldn't have been so Scunthorpe oriented if they'd lost :steam:

The thought of buying another Bundesliga 2 player makes me shudder.

The thought of another American striker coming here makes me shudder.

Are they all write offs now? Because we had one who didn't do very well?

Well c'mon, where are you all??? Sagbo has scored 10 from 13 for Um Salal - perhaps we should get him back<laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh>
Some of the players mentioned by some of you posters aren't Championship Players Arseholes.
Do you honestly think Mr Allam and Steve Bruce and his team will be looking at players who are scoring goals against Wetwang Reserves??

Bit of a difference between the league just below ours and the 14th tier of football. Exaggerate much?

Considering Bruce admitted his interest in Daniel Bentley (Southend) and Josh Windass (Accrington), both lower league players, I'd wager that's exactly where they're looking. It's where Clucas came from.

Horse!
1 bid for Bentley from QPR of 1.25 million which was rejected. There were no other bids from anyone.
Windass plays for Accrington Stanley in League 2. There has been no bids for him.

Er. No bids doesn't mean teams aren't interested. QPR had 3 bids rejected for Bentley anyway.

Anyway, here's a quote from our gaffer talking about transfers a few weeks ago:

"We've had Ben Godfrey (of York City) watched in the last couple of games and we're aware of him. We're aware of Josh Windass, too, and another couple elsewhere.
One thing we've done particularly well in the last couple of years is identifying these younger players. We've had the benefit with people like Andy Robertson and Sam Clucas. We're watching a lot of young players every week."

And here's a little bit on Bentley, although no formal bid was made, Bruce certainly tried:

"A personal scouting mission ended with Bruce enquiring about Bentley's availability but Southend have been quick to dismiss talk of a £1m sale.

"Steve Bruce spoke to Phil Brown and Steve Kavanagh but we've said no to the offer," said Southend chairman Ron Martin.

I don't really know what your point is, players have to start somewhere, we could have bought Odubajo for less than £1m two years ago but we waited and he went to Brentford and ended up costing us £3.5m. What's wrong with cutting out the middle man?

The 'middle man' would be his agent - you can't cut him out.
Odubajo is as useless as tits on a bull.
Ben Godfrey is 17 - we are looking to get back into the Premier League aren't we?

The middle man he's referring to is the club that buys him who then charge an exorbient fee.

You're a clueless old fool.

He's not useless at all, if that's you're definition of useless then it explains your high expectations when it comes to our strikers <yikes>

As for looking at youngsters, nothing wrong with it, at 17 years old he's already playing in League 2. These are the types of players that clubs like Peterborough look at and then sell on for large amounts of money. By cutting out the middle man, I was referring to the club that we usually buy the player from, instead of going to the club he originally came from and buying him for nothing.

If the likes of Windass and Bentley came here, they'd go straight into the first team.

Just seen that Arsenal are in talks to bring Mohamed Elneny to the Premier League. Think Apth said we were looking at him a few years ago, I think he'll be a good player for them.
