Villa are rumoured to have bid £6m too for Lescott, and be in prime position for Zaha according to Warren Haughton (same guy as the Wes rumours yesterday) on talks****. Lescott's wages are apparently £90k+, but Man City would cover some of that to begin with. West Ham were apparently interested until they signed Roger Johnson.

£90k/week to pay for the reserves or sit on the bench. Nice work if you can get it but really shows what is wrong with top flight football. Little wonder that the richer clubs are in a position to hoard the available talent and stop decent premiership footballers playing for clubs further down the food chain and making the league a bit more competitive.

I believe Kenneth Omeruo was mentioned as a possible loan signing from Chelsea. He's just joined Middlesborough.

    We're seriously paying him £30k a week??

There's absolutely no point him being at the club, CH would rather play Elmander alone up top and bring Martin on to replace him than play Becchio, so he may as well go out on loan and try to get some form back, and possibly drum up some interest in signing him permanently. If we have to pay half his wages that's still a significant saving.

<yikes> £30k a week is a lot of money, he must be not far behind our top earners.

I can't believe for one second that we are paying Becchio 30k a week, that just has to be bollocks

He was probably on decent dosh at Leeds. £30K seems like far more than I'd expect him to be on though. Maybe £25k ish.

30K a week would be a lot for a player who was brought in as a temporary fix and backup player. Sounds like bull if you ask me.

Agree - this is abysmal - we might be a solvent club but this is ****ed. A grown man's salary a week?
