We got some great youngsters coming through the ranks such as Mowatt and Byram. Nice long contracts....
Snodds in the short term, Howson I think will be in the long term. Johnson consistently surprises me by not being as bad as I think. When we control games it is usually with Johnson on the pitch (though admittedly when he is passing less than 6 yards and banned from shooting). The guy has phenomenal confidence
I'm not sure it's so much shooting, it's more he's got a vendetta against someone in the upper barclay.
Scored with a lovely finish against Palace though eh? That was his right foot though, maybe he tries too hard with his left.
His technique for the finish against Palace was superb - unfortunately he does not do that every time. Maybe he should try side-footing his shots more often now? It's when he goes for the blast, trying to replicate that goal he scored against Arsenal in the Cup when he was at Leeds, where there is a problem. I said on another thread the other day that Johson's vision often seems quite good, to my mind, in that he sees runs, attempts lofted balls over the top or through balls. Unfortunately his execution is the part that goes awry. He does not lack confidence though, so he keeps trying and every now and again it does pay off, with some of our best counter-attacks started by a Johnson ball that has been executed correctly.
Sam bryam is clearly a talent, but if we are looking at a new right back, my thought would be someone with top-flight experience would be preferable, e.g naughton. just my view.
Rumours of PSG wanting Kyle Walker might mean Spurs aren't prepared to sell a fullback unfortunately. When Byram could cost us £5m, that can be better spent elsewhere.
I don't know if anyone else has heard this but I have heard a whisper that Snod may be on his way in the Summer further North for family reasons. I seriously hope not as I think on his day he is as good as we've got and that we should not be losing our better players. From the same source I have heard that Zaha is pretty much a done deal and will be here for the rest of the season on loan. Sadly the source in question is utterly unproven to me so I may just be having my chain pulled. I'd love to see Bryam join us or Naughton but I don't see Naughton being within our wage structure. I feel a RB would be an asset but probably our greatest need is for a strong CH and some creativity in the middle. Personally I don't see us doing too much business this window unless a real opportunity arises. I see little point in us paying over the odds for players no better than we have in situ and we have a lot of talent due to come back to fitness in the next few weeks. Plus I think that we should be looking to bring through some of the lads from the reserves and youth team IF CH feels that they have sufficient ability.
Well if Zaha goes anywhere else, I think we can assume the Snodgrass rumour is BS too. Did hear an interesting comment from Moyes, ruling out Zaha going to Palace, but the quote was that he didn't want him going back to London. Would I be reading too much into that to rule out the likes of West Ham too?
After hearing Sam A bemoaning the fact that he only had 14 available players for the Florist thrashing, if all these twitter rumours are correct, they'll very soon have 1400! Deadline Day ‏@DeadlineDay 14m Tottenham, Newcastle and West Ham are all interested in City’s Joleon Lescott.
