L'Equipe reporting that Saivet is set for an exit (loan, with option to buy) to Montpellier. Serves them right for not warning us about that Cabella idiot.

Cardiff sign Liverpool midfielder Marko Grujic on loan until the end of the season.

Bit disappointed with this. I thought him and Markovic might have been quite useful loan additions or us.

We're after Sturridge and Ings from Liverpool according to SSN.
Sakho at West Ham seems to be on our radar also.

Very exciting as there is absolutely no chance of Ashley actually allowing useful players to arrive.

Apparently we're quibbling on wages with Sturridge. To be honest I don't even know why I'm presenting that as news..

If I was Sturridge, what would I want? Regular football at somewhere I can look good, close to home, with a view to either getting another shot at Liverpool or moving on. Why the fck I'd do that at Inter or Sevilla I don't know - I think we're a good option, but if he became available I think there'd be higher bidders than us asking for him.

He's an extremely talented player - what I always recall with him and his injuries is that he was one of those who wouldn't play unless he was absolutely 100% tip top condition, whereas almost all footballers know they'll be playing at 80-90% fitness most of the time. It's in his head. So if we can get him, and work on that, then I'd be delighted. A finisher, pacey enough and a presence up front.

This is becoming a serious problem for us now. Aside from the transfer fees, we will not pay the wages for quality players so we end up with ****e or nobody at all coming in. I understand Ashley wants a wage cap/structure in place to make the club profitable and attractive to potential buyers, but whereas 2 years ago we were signing decent players like Townsend, Shelvey etc, TV revenues have increased and wages moved on. We have almost no quality in the squad and it doesn't look like we're getting any anytime soon either.

Reports that Saivet has indeed left for Montpellier.

Non-NUFC, but Brighton are close to siging striker Jurgen Locadia from PSV for £14.5m. Takes their spending including the Summer to £58m, Hudds with Pritchard up to £54m. We're stuck on £32m spent.

I don't understand where the PL TV or Fun88 money's gone. Neither Hudds nor Brighton signed "lucrative" sponsor deals. It really is a head scratcher.

We haven't had much, if any, of the TV money yet (I think there was a payment this month according to some reports). The sponsorship money is a pittance in comparison. Those other promoted teams are almost certainly getting these players on tick and spending the money before they get it (they also have much lower wage bills). Ashley won't finance us in that way so we have what we have in the bank, which is very little. There may be a bit there to be fair but it's impossible to know. I mean, at the end of the summer we flogged off a couple of players and people reckoned we may have £10-15m in the bank to spend. We didn't spend it, but is it still there? With a huge wage bill I can only assume we have continued to have more money going out than coming in until the EPL money starts to hit. If there has been a payment or payments from the Premier League, how much were they and how much is needed to pay the overheads until the the next payment? It's not the only money coming in, but it's the bulk of it and you can see how if Ashley won't forward some of the TV cash we are going to struggle to have two ha'pennies to rub together. Ashley's approach is insanity in fairness.

Actually, if it's true it's far more likely he'll be headed for Sunderland. They haven't got their own airport you know.
