I think we had the money. Certainly that was the noise from the club and Rafa. I just think as much as he is an ex mackem, has a bit of chequered history in terms of behaviour, he is better than what we have in the middle of the park. At 27 he is in his prime and a free transfer is a bargain. I'm sure St Etienne will be selling him on in one of the next two windows for a pretty fee. Or they'll get him to sign something longer. Its a weird situation which makes you wonder. He had quite a big rep when younger, when he was at the mackems he looked quality, yet no one will touch him with a ****ty stick among Europe's numerous clubs for free?
