It shows how ridiculous football has become.

£75m could help create hundreds of football schools up and down the country, get hundreds of new coaches trained and help children who need help giving them a chance through sport. The amount of money wasted that could be put into grassroots football to give us a chance of becoming a top nation is ridiculous.

I wish clubs looked at the bigger picture sometimes.

In fairness Southampton do put a lot of money into their youth system so that 75m will likely be largely redistributed in a similar way to that.

Infrastructure, scouting networks, player development, charity work in the area, grassroots clinics, etc. Clubs do a lot behind the scenes.

Then you have big businesses throwing billions around in transactions that is supposedly more acceptable because they're being run to earn a profit rather than provide entertainment.

All of the above. How much per youth player are clubs expenses/investment and how much does "big business" throw in per unit (youth player development) per annum ? Any idea ?

I saw that Adelekun has been linked again, available for £1m, but Sunderland and Barnsley also interested. Presumably if he is settled in the area, coming to us would be a no-brainer? That being said, he is from London so if he gets an offer from down south I can see him going there.

Listening to Scunny fans on RH, they seem to be split on his worth to the side, on his day he is brilliant, but appears not to do it regularly enough. Sounds a bit like Turbo.

“We’ve been talking to Hakeeb about a new deal. I don’t know what stage that is at. He’s been exceptional and we’ve been speaking for a while.

“We know of his qualities, we’ve always been aware of those, but every player has a right to decide his own destiny.”

"...whoever is running out of contract, the club have an option on them all anyway." Adkins

This 'all' can't surely include Abel?
