I would like to see someone arriving at the positions we suffer pretty soon... Ideally before the game against Swansea and definite before Soton!
Trouble is that doesn't give them much time to work up a good understanding with their colleagues and with the system of play. Think it is fairly rare that you can sign a player and slot them in and they are effective right away, usually takes a few games - or months in some players cases - or seasons in one particular individuals case.
"Fulham have opened talks over a bid to sign Belgium international midfielder Steven Defour from Porto. Head coach Rene Meulensteen is desperate to add energy to the centre of Fulhamâs midfield before the transfer window shuts. Porto want around £6.5million for Defour, but Fulham are keen to try to take the 25-year-old on loan until the end of the season with an agreement to buy if they stay up. Aston Villa have also shown an interest in Defour this month, but were put off by Portoâs asking price and it now remains to be seen whether Fulham can reach an agreement with the Portuguese club. Defour is already well known to Meulensteen, having been a target of Manchester United when he was 19." Adrian Durham fancies him... @talkSPORTDrive: Defour wanted by Fulham, that'll be the extra legs I said they needed in midfield. good player.
It's pure plagiarism on my part Captain. I'd never heard of Ings before you mentioned him. You could write my current knowledge of League football on the back of a matchbox!
To be fair, I only knew about Ings because I watch AFC Bournemouth from time to time. If he had been playing for, say, Swindon or Torquay I wouldn't have known any more than the next man. Back then his goalscoring stats weren't anything like as good as they are this season, but he always had the look of someone who was bound for greater things. Then again, back in the pre- Al Fayed days I thought the same about Rory Hamill, and he sunk without trace after leaving us.
Defour is a very very good player. He's got quick feet and can spot a pass. He's very unlucky to be Belgium as they have a very good midfield in dembele and sideshow bob Fellini, witsel, and others. He's got a good engine he reminds me of Carrick of old. Tottenham days.
Sounds like a good addition if we can get him. If the stories about agreeing personal terms are true, it sounds like being close to a done deal.
Defour was spoken highly about a few years back and it just seemed like a matter of time before a big club snapped him up as they were all linked with him. The big move never quite happened although I hadn't realised he had ended up at Porto. Def buy for me
Just seen Sky are reporting we have officially bid for Swansea's Taylor and they are considering it! would be great to get a left back in this window, a new left back the return of Hangeland and emergence of Burn could make a huge difference. Taylor and Defour - In Senderos - out Would be a ok window
If we get Defour I reckon it will be a similar situation to Dembele, he won't hide the fact we are a stepping stone and, if he plays as Moussa did, will be snapped up by top 6 team within 2 years for a profit. It's come out of the blue, my hopes have been raised!
Got no problem with that, we aren't gonna be challenging for Europe any time soon and a player of his ability deserves to showcase his talents in at least the Europa. If he gets us out of this mess and helps stabilise the club then it will be more than welcome. Definite buy.
Any player who wants to use us as stepping stone, comes in keeps us up and leaves for a profit is more than welcome right now. I'm all for bringing through our youngsters but right now we need to stay up anyway we can and reassess everything in the summer
Devour sounds a real talent and he seems to tick all the right boxes, fingers crossed he will join us in some way. My only concern is that his agent is behind all the talk and this could be a way of saying fulham want him now but if you jump in he would rather go elsewhere.
http://www.standard.co.uk/sport/foo...fer-for-west-hams-ravel-morrison-9076859.html This and a few more reports saying we're upping our bid for Morrison by half a mil. If that's all we're offering then I don't think we'll have much luck.
How about a swap deal with Billy Big Boll***s Bebatov going to Spurs and Sigurdsson coming here? I like this one. Quality midfielder.
According to Sky we are in advanced negotations with Porto... "According to reports in Portugal, Fulham are now in advanced negotiations with Porto to sign Belgium international Steven Defour this month. Fulham are reported to have offered €5million (£4.1m) plus extras for the midfielder, with Porto demanding €6million (£4.9m) for a January sale. Defour is keen to leave Porto this month to secure regular first-team football ahead of the World Cup."
