I know literally nothing about him but I’d still have him in our starting line up. Sounds like he’s got pace and is direct so it’s a yes from me.

re: Scotland I think it makes so much sense for us to get players from there. That and Ireland.

With the salary cap we need players willing to accept lower salaries. Even current league 1 players expect higher than the salary cap allows, that’s why it’s so messed up. The only way for us to bring the right quality of player in, is to get them from other countries where the average wage is much less.

Does the salary cap apply in the championship or not?

Not sure where this leaves Chris Maguire frankly, especially with his contract up soon.

Personally in the attacking mid roles I’d have him behind Jones, McGeady, Gooch, Diamond, O’Brien and Embleton in the pecking order. And that’s before Benji is back. And Dan Neil.

He’s clearly good enough to contribute still but can see him going if anybody put a cheeky nominal bid in.

We can’t carry Maguire with the wage cap, and if we go up he hasn’t ever performed in championship.

The wage caps means we can’t wait for him to have a run of hot games, he’s golden when he’s flying but he’s utterly worthless when he isn’t. We simply can’t hold a slot for a player so inconsistent with the restrictions, match winner or not.

yeh Maguire was clearly leaving end of season any way. My point was more I can see him going now if we can find a taker. You’d think Salford would be all over him.

I like Maguire, I guess we all do, it’s just he’s so ****ing patchy.

He could win us the league, he could just as easy cost us it. He’s got that bit of class and magic about him but when he’s off his game he’s not a 5 or 6 he’s invisible.

We haven’t the players to carry it.

he also massively slows things down. Which is exactly what Johnson is trying to move away from
