The Sunderland man’s decision to move to Germany has paid off and Sky Deutschland provide the latest on the defender.

Seelt has played nine matches for Wolfsburg and has impressed so far this season. The Bundesliga side are ‘very happy’ with his performances.

Wolfsburg haven’t agreed a purchase option or obligation with Sunderland as part of the loan move. As things stands, the Dutchman has to return to the Stadium of Light after this season.

The German club are looking to stop that from happening as they want to buy him. It’s claimed they have already carried out initial talks with Régis Le Bris’ side to sign Seelt on a permanent transfer.

Seelt’s contract at Sunderland lasts until 2028. There’s no mention of what transfer fee would be offered, or the Premier League club’s stance on selling him.

think with RIgg and Mayenda, they will play over Xmas, as the AFCON players are ahead,

also with Brobbey and Sadiki playing well, they get pushed down,

fully expect them to play more,

meeting my saints mate who works for the club so will see if I can get any details

On Seelt, I wouldn't be considering selling him unless we got top dollar, I genuinely think there's a very good centre back in there if he can reach his potential, certainly good enough to compete in our centre back pool with Ballard, Alderete, Nordi etc. I would be looking at renewing his contract in the summer and integrating him in pre-season to see where he is. We should also consider that other teams might be looking at our other defenders and if we receive a big offer, would leave a spot for Seelt to move into and that has always been the model.

Neil is 24 now, I think the tribunal system is more applicable to academy lads, but admit I'm not sure on that and happy to be corrected

Correct, compensation for young players is capped at age 23, Neil as a free agent can probably command a decent 5 figure wage and a 6 figure signing on fee, especially if Roma are interested. If he were to move in January you'd assume he'd struggle to get near that.

Edit:: Jack Colback is a example of a 24 year old leaving for nothing.

I wonder how many of the Sunderland media/youtubers read these threads, the likes of Connor Bromley, AltEnding or the Sunderland Echo lads etc. I feel like very often we talk about things on here, like come up with an angle that isn't on Twitter or RTG and then you see them talking about it. Can't help but feel they're either posters on here or at least lurk.

Difficult not to get too excited by who we might be able to attract now. All bets are off after how the summer went. Wages will be a factor as we (rightly) have limits to work to.

With how shrewd KLD and co are, they will be aware how the club didn’t strengthen at the right times during the 7th place seasons, and will be primed to bring in key targets.

Can only see us going for a cm and a RW this window
Will depend on departures. I think there’s a pretty big list of players that would be available, Masuaku, O’Nien, Hjelde, Alese, Cirkin defensively could all leave in January or the summer. I’d certainly keep O’Nien and would love Cirkin to prove himself over AFCON. Poveda, Ba and Neil all likely to go too. Obviously those currently on loan might depart as well. I think that we will be looking at LB, CB, CM and RW but don’t expect us to make more than a couple of big signings.

Nothing more for Dembele to win at PSG so I'd be enquiring about him, Kroupi at Bournemouth looks a great prospect and has previous with RLB, would give Pep a call and ask about Foden and I'd also ask Liverpool about Robertson as a backup LB.

I’d sell for 15m plus a sell on. It would pretty much cover the majority of the fee to make Geertruida permanent wouldn’t it?

Is he an option or mandatory? I’d like to see him have a run of games where he’s not just part of a back 5 that play deep where it’s generally quite easy for him. Then again £20m for a squad player is the going rate these days
