Everything is a gamble in this position, doing nothing is a gamble. Last Jan was a fluke for Sam let alone us. It shows it can be done you're right, but you only need to take take an extra step back to see it rarely is done.

Short could just put his hand in his pocket and give us a bit more to work with. That would be the best gamble for me. It's the obvious gamble, to chase some genuine quality than chuck millions at an unknown than blame moyes when goes tits up.
Now that I totally agree with.

Not sure how you can just pass off what Sam done as a fluke? I think he needs credited for what he pulled off.

3 out of 3 overseas signings with no experiance of the league all hitting the ground running is exceptional by anyone's standards, especially for Sam who's transfer history has always been patchy through his career.

never said he wasn't due credit for it.

Newcastle midfielder Cheick Tiote had agreed a two year deal with an UNNAMED club in China <laugh>

What the ****?

Any good? Can't really remember him playing for you guys.

I personally liked him and i was disapointed to see him leave. He wasnt technically that good but he has balls of steel and hes a big lump.
Im not sure if his games improved over the last few years over in Spain.

He was only 22 when he signed for Sunderland and in his first few games I thought he looked pretty good. Only got half a season (though played most of the games iirc) then changes of manager did for him I think. Tad concerning that he's been released 2-3 times since then but he's approaching his peak now and worth a gamble I'd have thought.

Bang average. Big and strong though, physically imposing. Needs more time on the ball then he'll get and he's a poor passer. He'd slow our game and take the sting out of attacks. Could have developed since than though.

Seriously disappointed we've not brought a striker in. There was clearly some money available.

Again, if Defoe gets a knock we've got no one to play there at all.
