7.5m for a striker is going to get us a Jozy or Kone. It's not good enough a standard mate. It would be like flushing 7.5 down the drain going for the next Danny graham, Chopra, stead! This is the category of quality 7.5m is going to get us in this market. Just don't see any value in over paying for ****.

It would have got us Ulloa if Leicester didn't dig their heels in about not selling to a premier league side, I believe so anyway. We don't need anyone great we just need someone big and strong to hold the ball up and support Defoe.

I don't believe that a manager with good knowledge of the market can't get a forward good enough for the prem for 7 or 8 mil.

Ever since Bruce sold out spine and replaced them with free agents and loans, this has been a big part of our problem. It's squad fill pennies 7.5 million.
But with no one to help the ball stick up front we'll continue to struggle for the rest of the season. It would be better to roll the dice and bring in a third, fourth, fifth, sixth choice and hope against hope that they can come good than continue the way we are.

Of course they're going to dig their heels, in, we did with PVA forcing Palace of over pay. It's the nature of the beast. We can do it so can't complain when it's done to us.

If we don't need anybody great then a couple of mill for Kone should see you happy, I think we need better but it I'm not deluded. I know it costs.

I would have liked a bid for Walters from Stoke, he would have done a job for us. I think he's still getting games for them on the reg but I think they'd have sold for 7 mil or less given his age.

Well I could run my finger down a list of things I want in a catalog. Pointless exercise if I don't have the poke to buy it.

We know we've had a list of targets mate, it's been reported all day. Clubs won't sell, tells my we don't have the budget to even test them.
Surely he could have found somebody within budget, though. Players are cheaper abroad, why doesn't he try doing his shopping over there?

I'm not deluded either thanks, bottom line is that there are good enough forwards out there for less than 8 mil, if you know where to look. You don't necessarily have to spend 15 mil to get someone who's up to scratch.

So when it fails we're another 7.5m plus the players wages in the whole for a **** player we can't shift. Same mistakes as we've always made. You're right it's all we can do, but it doesn't make it the right thing to do. but Moyes will get it in the neck when it fails. when it's the entire blueprint of our club going round in circle making the same mistakes over and over which is at real fault.

I thought we were agreed it's not about the money spent, but what the signings can do? They'll be gems out there, or people that could even do a job for that price. I'm sure of it.

League 1 money now that mate. Anyway it`s probably in Shorts back pocket now, the same place the money from Khazri, Lens & Coates will go.

I don't agree, it's a decent little wedge I think. Either way we need somebody in whether they're good or not thanks to Anichebe's injury.

Because these players need to bed in, we've got 3-4 month, they'd be great to bring in now to be ready for next season otherwise it's just more gambling which is exactly my point. It's not going to be a Sam like January every time, infect it's usually not given that window is like the only successful jan window we've had in other half a decade.

The position we are in now, I think that's what we have to do, if we are serious about staying up.

We might have generally had bad January windows, but I prefer to look at it positively and say last year has shown it can be done with the right scouting and management.

RODRIGUEZ NOT IN SQUAD

There have been rumours that Jay Rodriguez could leave Southampton today and he has not been named in their squad to face Swansea. One to keep an eye on perhaps

Straw + clutch
It's Tottenham that he's being linked with. Don't think we have much of a chance going up against them, really.

We do agree but it's a bigger gamble, it's a pond with more **** fish than catches of the day, Come on mate, lets not delude ourselves, there are bargains but we'd be fishing in an area where you'll most likely catch ****. It's odds init, the chances. Meaning a greater chance of failure, a greater chance of increasing our debt for a dead assets who'll never bring a return. It's something for a summer window imo, not a winter window where you need instant results.

I`ve mentioned that before and I`m becoming more convinced ours are ****e.

Did they stock up the academy? Moyes doesn`t rate them therefore by inference he doesn`t trust their judgement hence he`s shopping at the Everton he knows.

I`m off at an angle (I know I`m doing it again) but it raises doubts with me.

Everything is a gamble in this position, doing nothing is a gamble. Last Jan was a fluke for Sam let alone us. It shows it can be done you're right, but you only need to take take an extra step back to see it rarely is done.

Short could just put his hand in his pocket and give us a bit more to work with. That would be the best gamble for me. It's the obvious gamble, to chase some genuine quality than chuck millions at an unknown than blame moyes when goes tits up.
