So funny to see posters slagging off players who they have previously creamed themself over
Fickle eh
To be honest, Estupinan is a huge signing. If we were paying £6-8m for him then I don't think anyone would complain.

He's 5th top scorer in what's generally accepted to be the 6th best league.

Us getting him on a free is a massive coup

I think you'll have 4-6 new players, not including converting loans to permanents. Realistically, we'll probably lose Greaves and/or Oscar but that could give us a £30m war chest.

4-6 new ones is fine, but there's a chance we could hit 17 signings today in one window.

I've said all summer I thought we'd do the major rebuild all in one summer. Once you start, it's very difficult to stop

@Chazz Rheinhold I know 100000% this wasn’t me :)

He's one of the most over-rated players we've had at City in ages. He had a good August/September but apart from that was average. We let him go because he's crap, and Metz sent him back for the same reason.
I remember getting pelters for saying it from pretty much day one. He was terrible.

Makes no sense, you made a generic comment about taking a striker who scores goals over a striker that doesn't score as many. So again, by that logic, you'd take Oscar over Delap?

Might be relevant to the conversation but Man City tended to score more goals each season before Haaland joined. The 2017-18 Man City centurions scored 106 league goals. They also scored a lot of goals when playing with a false 9 instead of a recognised striker.

If he isn’t a goal scorer, what is he? He’s crap at everything else other than scoring goals
He’s scored 75 in 224 appearances, if you think that’s good and makes him a goal scorer at a decent level but in his prime is now in Brazil. Then fine your entitled to your opinion as I, Rosie and Metz are

1 in 3 is a good record as a scorer? Not everyone is like Cristiano Ronaldo and can score a goal or more every game. He had a lot of flaws but that goals per game is nothing to look down at.

But at what level, I’m not saying he’s bad just that he hasn’t done it consistently at a decent level

I’m in no way supporting Oscar - he’s good at what he does but we’re a far better team with Delap in it. Similar to the Messi Ronaldo debate, goal scoring is the only metric that Ronaldo wins (although even then he doesn’t because goals to games). Messi is better as every facet of the game, but because people value goals above all else, Ronaldo is in a debate he really has no right to be in. Much like there’s no actual argument for Oscar being anywhere near as good as Delap

Over a full season Delap was on track to match Oscar just about.

Yeah, absolutely, and with serving Oscar without him contributing much else but finishes, sporadically I might add, I don't think you can look at Oscar's total last year in isolation

Rotating the focal point between Delap, Ozan and Connolly we've actually had 7, 7 and 8 respectively and brought in more goal contributions from the 3 in behind.

To me, that's an improvement on Oscar's 13 and Ozans 8 in a whole season last year.

Anyone can frame it how they want, but Oscar was a free, and became more valuable to the club in an international market either sold or on loan very quickly.

Good player, but isn't going to lead the line.

Not really sure anyone is saying oscar is better then delap, I certainly aren't ... But anyone trying to say he's crap etc is just being purposely daft. He's an instinctive finisher and provided great contribution to us last season with absolutely nowhere near the support in the squad this season. He was also injured for a chunk last season if I remember correctly....

He just simply doesn't fit into the way LR wants to play and is on pretty silly wages ( for us ) so the best thing to do was move him on while we could capitalise commercially. He loved it here and really wanted to play and contribute this season but didn't get the chance. Good luck to him.

I've never said he's crap.

I just don't think we're as inept as to not know what we're doing with Oscar, Tetteh, Ally Etc.

Which has been the narrative on here for the last 18 months.
