They were all really bad for us tbf, you’re right.

Like Connolly has been?

I'm not saying they were ****..

My point being Bruce brought in players from his last club in the same way Rosenior has. What magical clout signings did Bruce make beyond just "yeah I used to work with you"?

He was a well known player for Man Utd back in the day, we got a fair few players that were very good for us that said they came because of Bruce and in the morning I’ll find the links. But for now I’m off out with my mates so have a good night.

You'll find as many interviews saying players signed for Rosenior too.

Enjoy your night out!

He came from Italy to play for Hull city...... Hernandez?

Bruce made some quality signings as well as some that didnt work out.... Didnt he sign Diame, Jelavic ect.... Yeah a few that didn't work out. For me Bruce lead us to our best days by far.....

Just quickly read tonight's Joyful message board :1980_boogie_down:

Wow players said they signed because of the manager! Must be the first time for that. No players have said that about Rosenior.

He did. But he was also the best backed - until the name change ****e anyway.

Rosenior summer '23 gets £5m net for a whole window.

Bruce 9 years ago gets £9m to spunk on a striker in the championship, who proves not to be quite good enough for the Premier league.

It's not really comparing apples with apples now is it?

Bruce had a platform that dour nige left to build on.

And he didn't get everything right.

Not only that, Rosenior hasn't had the money in relative terms that Bruce had.
Oh don’t worry, he definitely didn’t get everything right, the European journey will always annoy me, I went to the away games and got stopped by the water cannon in trencin. I’m sure if you asked most City fans they’d have prioritised going to the san Siri (who trencin got) over us potentially staying up which we didn’t. All I’m saying is he had a pull on some players we probably couldn’t have got without him.

You mean in the PL? Who gives a ****, they came to play in the PL or for a ton of cash. I'm talking Bruce signings in the championship where they weren't just from an old club of his.

You’re so naive it’s unbelievable, Bruce got us a lot of good players in the championship that many others couldn’t but I can’t be bothered to talk to you anymore because as I’ve said I’m off out and it’s like talking to a brick wall with you.

Yet you keep replying and name calling as usual. You haven't named a single player he signed in the championship but keep insisting I'm naive. I already said above either managerial experience or money or a good owner is needed to make signings. Or did you miss that in your rush to talk down Rosenior yet again?

We have Stan Ternent to thank for a lot of those. Bruce obviously recruited old Stan as chief scout. And that was to his credit, but Stan was responsible for a lot of those signings.

Bruce is yesterday's man. Game has moved on.

He's not getting back in at top or second tier level in this day and age. Let's face it.

Quinn was cheap as chips, so you think he wouldn't have come if we'd had another manager? Brady was here previously. Clucas was signed from league one as well so I think the point of this discussion is being missed. I'm not saying he didn't make good quality signings I'm saying we didn't sign anyone who only signed for us because Bruce has some amazing reputation. They signed because they'd worked with him before or because we were a good move for them (like Clucas and Quinn).

Otherwise that's like saying "WOW Rosenior signed Philogene how amazing is he!"

And this was going to be my other point. Bruce brought Ternant in which improved recruitment massively.

So now the players sign for the scouts not the managers? Ok signing off......

<laugh> talk about twisting people's points. The scouts identify the talent who are then happy to sign as it's a step up for them. Not because wowee Mr Bruce I had your poster on my wall.

It's not like we signed Javier Hernandez who joined as a favour to Bruce.

It's why I found it so hilarious someone actually tried to use "well when they signed they praised the manager" as evidence of anything more than lip service. Players go where they'll be paid the most and (mostly) where they'll get the most playing time. That's it. Otherwise no one would have signed for Shota. Talk about naivety..

They primarily sign for the club. Their contract is with the club, not the coach.

Given the average tenure of a manager is a lot less than the average contract of a player, they'd be daft to do anything otherwise.

I think they sign for the club, you might get a marginal advantage if the same money and similar perception of opportunity is on offer between a couple of clubs. But it's something that's overplayed by certain elements of the footballing community with their own interests to protect.
